Technology Overview

With a switching capacity of 24 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 17.85 Mpps, the DIS-200G-12PS handles traffic reliably using store-and-forward switching, backed by a MAC address table of up to 8,000 entries. Its feature set includes STP/RSTP/MSTP, 802.3ad link aggregation (up to 6 groups of 8 ports each), LLDP, IGMP and MLD snooping, plus ERPS (G.8032) for ring-based redundancy. VLAN capabilities such as 802.1Q tagged VLAN with up to 4094 VIDs, Auto Surveillance VLAN 2.0 and Voice VLAN simplify segmentation of surveillance and voice traffic. QoS with 802.1p and four queues per port ensures prioritized traffic handling. Security features including D-Link Safeguard, storm control, port security, 802.1X access control with RADIUS, and SSH/SSL round out the package.

Management and Diagnostics

Management is available via web UI (IPv4/IPv6), industry-standard CLI, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with traps, or the D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) software; dual image and dual configuration support simplify firmware updates without downtime. Cable diagnostics and Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) for SFP transceivers are available for troubleshooting. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and additional power-saving features reduce energy consumption during operation.

Note on PoE Power and Accessories

According to the datasheet, the full 240W PoE power budget is only available when paired with the optional DIS-N480-48 power supply; with the DIS-N240-48 the budget is 227W. Compatible SFP transceivers such as the DIS-S301SX, DIS-S302SX and DIS-S310LX extend uplink options. For full functionality, pairing the switch with the matching accessory power supply is recommended.
