The D-Link DIS-300G-12SW is an industrial gigabit managed switch built for environments where standard networking equipment falls short. Typical deployments include heavy industry and factory automation, where vibration, temperature swings, and electromagnetic interference can disrupt network operation, as well as traffic engineering and rail applications (ITS), for which the switch carries NEMA-TS2 certification. It is also used in municipal surveillance and smart-city projects, such as traffic management systems and public-space sensor networks, since it operates reliably even without climate control in a cabinet or outdoor enclosure.

Technical Overview

The switch supports Spanning Tree protocols per IEEE 802.1D/802.1w/802.1s and link aggregation per 802.3ad, either static or via LACP. Network segmentation is handled through up to 256 static VLAN groups (1024 including dynamic groups) with port-, MAC-, IP-subnet-, and protocol-based assignment plus 802.1ad Q-in-Q tagging, complemented by IGMP multicast management (v1/v2/v3) for up to 255 groups with snooping, query, and immediate leave. Quality of Service per IEEE 802.1p with eight priority queues per port, SPQ/WRR scheduling, and traffic shaping keeps prioritized traffic flowing even under heavy load.

Security is handled through 802.1X authentication, IP- and MAC-based access control, and storm control against multicast, broadcast, and flooding traffic; authentication can run locally or through RADIUS and TACACS+ (AAA). Management is available via CLI, web interface, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Telnet with up to 5 concurrent sessions, or encrypted HTTPS/SSH. For field operation, the switch also offers syslog, port mirroring, a copper diagnostics tool, and SFP modules with Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM); a configurable alarm profile combines LED indicators with a potential-free relay output (0.5 A at 24 V DC) for connecting to external control systems.

Matching SFP transceivers (DIS-S301SX, DIS-S302SX, DIS-S310LX) and external power supplies (DIS-H30-24, DIS-H60-24, DIS-N240-48, DIS-N480-48) are compatible accessories. D-Link provides a 5-year manufacturer warranty on the DIS-300G-12SW.
