D-Link DIS-310G-24X: Layer 3 Industrial Switch for Demanding Networks

Applications

The switch is designed for aggregation tasks where multiple sites or cells need to be combined and routed over redundant uplinks: Industry 4.0 manufacturing networks, remote monitoring infrastructure, smart grid substations, and ITS/traffic-control deployments with several outstations. With static routing, RIP v1/v2/ng, OSPF v2/v3 and VRRP, network segments can be separated and made redundant directly at the switch, without an additional router. Policy-based routing (PBR) and up to 64 IP interfaces allow several logical networks per site to be cleanly separated and forwarded with individual priority.

Technical Overview

A switching capacity of 120 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 89.82 Mpps deliver loss-free throughput across the 16K-entry MAC address table even under full port load. L2 features such as RSTP/MSTP with BPDU filtering, ERPS ring redundancy, link aggregation across up to 8 groups of 8 ports, and extensive IGMP/MLD snooping complement the routing layer with a robust switching foundation. On the VLAN side, port-, protocol- and MAC-based VLANs, Q-in-Q, plus Voice and Auto Surveillance VLAN are available, while QoS runs across 8 queues per port with SPQ/WRR. Security functions including DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IP Source Guard, IP-MAC-Port binding and 802.1X port authentication with RADIUS/TACACS+ accounting protect industrial network segments from unauthorized access. Cable diagnostics, 802.3ah Ethernet Link OAM, 802.1ag CFM and ITU-T Y.1731 support operations and troubleshooting, while the switch is managed via web GUI, CLI, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and dual image for uninterrupted firmware updates.

Note

The DIS-310G-24X is the only model in its series with full Layer 3 routing (static routing, RIP, OSPF, VRRP) - the related DIS-210G and DIS-700G-28XS models remain limited to restricted IP-interface routing or pure Layer 2. The official datasheet specifies 9K bytes for jumbo frames; a differing figure in the 2026 catalog was assessed as a typo (see notes).
