The D-Link DIS-3650AP is an industrial wireless access point built for outdoor deployment, designed for environments where weatherproofing and mechanical ruggedness matter most: factory yards, logistics compounds, parking areas, construction sites and other outdoor locations. Its IP67-rated weatherproof housing combined with high surge and ESD protection make it a dependable way to extend wireless coverage into outdoor areas of a corporate network. Typical scenarios include WiFi coverage for forklift traffic in factory yards, connecting cameras and sensors on outdoor facades, or providing temporary network coverage on construction sites and open lots.

Technical Overview

Two external omni-directional antennas (3.0 dBi at 2.4 GHz, 5.0 dBi at 5 GHz) deliver a stable outdoor radio link, and a single Gigabit LAN port handles wired backhaul. The DIS-3650AP supports up to 16 SSIDs, MAC address filtering, WLAN partitioning and WPA/WPA2/WPA3 encryption. Band steering and fast roaming (802.11k/r) keep mobile clients reliably connected. A console port allows local configuration.

Reliability and Compliance

With an MTBF of over 30,000 hours and FCC, CE and LVD certifications, the DIS-3650AP is built for rugged, continuous outdoor operation. At 1069.6 g and 220.46 x 127.46 x 72.54 mm, the housing stays compact for pole and wall mounting despite its IP67 rating. An operating range of -20 to 65°C and storage range of -40 to 80°C cover even extreme seasonal swings at outdoor sites.

Notes

Articulating wall/pole mounting brackets and a DIN mounting bracket are included in the box. Unlike the indoor DIS-2650AP, the manufacturer datasheet for the DIS-3650AP does not document an additional DC terminal block power input; power is supplied exclusively via PoE (802.3at).
