The D-Link DIS-2650AP is an industrial wireless access point built for environments where standard access points fall short: factory floors, warehouse logistics, production lines and other areas with elevated demands on temperature range, shock resistance and electromagnetic immunity. The rugged metal housing plus built-in surge and ESD protection make it a resilient choice for wirelessly connecting machinery, handhelds and mobile devices on the shop floor. Typical deployments range from linking AGVs and handheld scanners in intralogistics to connecting control stations, maintenance terminals and mobile operator panels directly on the production line.

Technical Overview

Two external omni-directional antennas (2.5 dBi at 2.4 GHz, 3.0 dBi at 5 GHz) deliver a stable radio link, while two Gigabit LAN ports handle wired backhaul. The DIS-2650AP supports up to 16 SSIDs, MAC address filtering, WLAN partitioning and WPA/WPA2 encryption. Band steering balances load across frequency bands, and fast roaming (802.11k/v/r) keeps mobile clients connected as they move between access points. A console port allows local configuration and diagnostics.

Reliability and Compliance

With an MTBF of 341,897 hours and FCC, CE, LVD, NCC and BSMI certifications, the DIS-2650AP is built for continuous operation in industrial networks. Its maximum power draw of 14.478 W simplifies PoE budget planning on existing switch infrastructure, and the PWR/status/PoE/alarm LED indicators give installers an at-a-glance view of operating state on site. At 785 g and with a -40 to 80°C storage range, the unit fits into space-constrained cabinets as well as open wall mounts.
