Powerful Cellular Connectivity
The embedded CAT-4 modem supports downlink speeds of up to 150 Mbps and uplink speeds of 50 Mbps. Supported LTE bands include B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B38, B40, B41, as well as 3G bands B1, B5, B8 (WCDMA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+). Redundant SIM slots (Nano-SIM and eSIM) provide automatic failover in case of network outages. The integrated GPS antenna interface enables precise location data for fleet management and asset tracking.
Industrial Features and Rugged Design
The MAX BR1 M2M is built for the harshest conditions: operating temperatures from -40 °C to 65 °C and humidity levels from 15% to 95% (non-condensing). The compact housing (129.5 x 107 x 35 mm, 455 g) can be mounted on a DIN rail. Power can be supplied via the 10–30 V DC power port, PoE (802.3at), or the included AC adapter (100–240 V AC / 12 V DC). GPIO and ignition sensing allow integration into vehicle and machine control systems. The RS-232/RS-485 serial interface connects industrial devices directly; optional Y-cables enable connection of two serial end devices.
Security and Centralized Management
A stateful firewall, DoS prevention, and web blocking protect the network. For VPN connections, SpeedFusion VPN (Hot Failover, Smoothing, Bandwidth Bonding) and IPsec VPN with 256-bit AES encryption are available. The router achieves throughput of 300 Mbps, SpeedFusion VPN throughput of 80 Mbps without encryption and 60 Mbps with AES. Management is possible via the web interface, command line, or the cloud-based InControl platform. SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Syslog, and email notifications allow seamless integration into existing monitoring systems. A captive portal with RADIUS authentication, time and volume quotas, and customizable splash page completes the feature set.
Expandability and Accessories
The optional Feature Pack (MAX-BR1-MINI-LC-FP) enables Ethernet WAN, Wi-Fi WAN, and SpeedFusion features such as Hot Failover, Smoothing, and Bandwidth Bonding. The number of SpeedFusion peers can be increased from 2 to 5. Available accessories include a 5-in-1 cellular/Wi-Fi antenna with GPS receiver (ANT-MB-22G-S-B-6, black; ANT-MB-22G-S-W-6, white), a 10-ft DC power cable (ACW-634), a dual serial Y-cable (ACW-790), a 4-pin Micro-Fit to USB-C cable (ACW-791), and a DIN rail mounting kit (ACW-DIN-BR1-MINI). The router comes with a 1-year limited warranty and meets FCC, IC, C1D2, and UL+CUL (60950-1 / 62368-1) certifications.
