SpeedFusion VPN Connectivity
This license activates Peplink’s full VPN solution on your Balance 1350 EC. SpeedFusion technology creates secure site-to-site tunnels by aggregating multiple WAN connections, whether wired, cellular, or satellite. Bandwidth bonding sums the bandwidth of each link to deliver cumulative throughput, while hot failover switches traffic in milliseconds if a path becomes unavailable. Application sessions remain active, with no perceptible downtime.
AES 256-bit encryption and authentication via pre-shared key or X.509 certificates protect data in transit. The license also supports PPTP, L2TP, OpenVPN, and IPsec VPN servers, with centralized authentication through local users, LDAP, RADIUS, or Active Directory. GRE tunnels round out the toolkit for network interconnections.
Security and Access Control
Beyond VPN encryption, the license leverages the Balance 1350 EC’s built-in security features. The stateful firewall inspects every packet while maintaining session context, while denial-of-service (DoS) prevention blocks volumetric attacks. Web blocking filters access to unwanted site categories, reinforcing corporate security policies.
The integrated captive portal controls wired and wireless client access. It supports RADIUS and LDAP authentication and can enforce time and volume quotas in open-access mode. A customizable landing page is included to display terms of use or corporate branding.
Advanced Quality of Service
The license enables the router’s QoS mechanisms to guarantee performance for critical applications. User groups simplify the definition of differentiated policies: bandwidth reservation for VoIP or video conferencing, per-device throttling, and application prioritization (SIP, HTTPS, VPN). Custom QoS rules can be created for any protocol or TCP/UDP port.
Load balancing relies on multiple algorithms: weighted, forced, persistence, priority, overflow, least used, and lowest latency. Each service can thus use the most suitable WAN path, optimizing user experience while controlling connectivity costs.
Network and Access Point Management
The license integrates into Peplink’s management ecosystem. The built-in AP controller automatically detects Peplink AP-series access points, manages their firmware, and applies centralized configuration profiles. Wi-Fi usage statistics provide visibility into connected clients and bandwidth consumption.
On the LAN side, the DHCP server dynamically assigns addresses with support for extended DHCP options and MAC-based reservation. The DNS proxy accelerates name resolution, while VLAN support segments traffic to isolate guest networks or departments. Bonjour Forwarding enables service discovery (printers, shares) across VLANs.
