Performance and Throughput

The TSW212 offers a non-blocking switching capacity of 20 Gbps, ensuring all ports can operate simultaneously at full Gigabit speed. The MAC address table supports 8,000 entries, with a 512 KB packet buffer. Jumbo frames up to 10,000 bytes are supported, as well as auto-MDI/MDIX crossover and Energy Efficient Ethernet (802.3az) to reduce power consumption during low-load periods.

Industrial Design and Reliability

The anodized aluminum housing with IP30 protection and an operating temperature range from -40 °C to 75 °C makes the switch suitable for harsh environments. Relative humidity may range from 10 % to 90 % (non-condensing). The integrated DIN rail mount allows for quick rail installation; wall mounting is optionally available with an additional kit. The switch weighs 615 g with dimensions of 132 x 44.2 x 122.2 mm. Power is supplied via a 2-pin industrial DC connector with a wide input range of 7 to 57 VDC. Power consumption is less than 2.5 W at idle and a maximum of 6 W. Status LEDs for power, aux, 16x LAN, and 2x SFP, along with a software reset button and grounding screw, complete the rugged design.

Management and Software

The TSW212 runs on TSWOS, a Linux-based operating system built on OpenWrt, providing comprehensive configuration and diagnostic capabilities. The web UI allows firmware updates from files or via server verification, configuration profile creation, and backups. The Remote Management System (RMS) enables simultaneous firmware and configuration updates across multiple devices; FOTA supports wireless firmware updates. An SDK package with a build environment is included, supporting development in BusyBox shell, Lua, C, and C++. Diagnostic tools such as cable diagnostics, ping, traceroute, and nslookup simplify troubleshooting. Firmware updates can be performed without losing the current configuration.

Network Features and Protocols

The switch supports extensive L2 functions: loopback protection, forwarding table, VLAN (802.1Q), and STP/RSTP. At the L3 level, static IPv4 and IPv6 routing, a DHCPv6 client, and static IPv6 address assignment are available. DHCP server and client functionality is integrated. For industrial automation networks, the TSW212 supports PROFINET (Class B), EtherNet/IP, and MRP in both client and manager roles. Quality of Service (QoS) can be managed via port priority, DSCP, 802.1p, and TOS; rate limiting and congestion control with SP, WFQ, and WRR scheduling ensure deterministic behavior. Port settings include enable/disable, link speed control, port isolation, PoE management, EEE (802.3az) management, and port mirroring. SNMP v2/v3 and LLDP round out the management protocols.
