Design & Performance

The Horn-5-60 is an asymmetrical horn antenna that delivers naturally attenuated side lobes and extremely low back radiation. Ubiquiti states that it offers the best front-to-back ratio in the industry and the lowest side lobe radiation within the horn antenna family. These characteristics make the antenna particularly suited for cluster sector installations where high co-location performance is required without sacrificing gain.

Modular Architecture

The horn antennas feature a modular design with flexible sectorization, allowing operators to select optional antenna beamwidths for specific deployment and environment needs. A single-button release mechanism enables quick antenna changes, and the horns are interchangeable across the family for improved beam shaping. This modularity supports a wide range of installations by letting installers swap horns to match the required radiation angle.

Deployment Scenarios

In a PtMP configuration, a PrismStation 5AC equipped with a horn antenna can serve as an access point communicating with IsoStation 5AC client devices across an airMAX network. For point-to-point links, an IsoStation 5AC can be deployed on each side, with the horn antenna providing isolation to improve link performance. The asymmetrical horn design enables a higher density of sectors than traditional sector technology by reducing interference between co-located radios.

Compatibility

The Horn-5-60 is compatible with airFiber LTU, IsoStation IS-5AC, IsoStation IS-M5, and PrismStation PS-5AC radios. This versatility allows the antenna to be integrated into existing airFiber and airMAX deployments without replacing the radio infrastructure. Operators can pair the horn with the radio that best matches their link type and throughput requirements.
