Performance and Throughput

The EdgeSwitch Fiber 12 processes traffic across all ports simultaneously at line speed, with no packet loss. Its non-blocking design ensures a total throughput of 16 Gbps, supporting demanding applications and intensive workloads with minimal latency.

Switching and Routing Features

The advanced operating system provides a comprehensive suite of Layer-2 protocols, including MSTP/RSTP/STP, VLAN (including Private VLAN and Voice VLAN), Link Aggregation, DHCP Snooping, and IGMP Snooping. Static routing capability and an integrated DHCP server expand network segmentation and management options.

Management and Security

The EdgeSwitch configuration interface offers an intuitive graphical dashboard for monitoring and control. For experienced administrators, the CLI is accessible via serial console, Telnet, and SSH. Security is ensured through mechanisms such as 802.1X, MAC Filtering, ACL, TACACS+, and RADIUS, along with DiffServ and CoS for quality of service.

Deployment and Aggregation

The EdgeSwitch Fiber 12 serves as a high-performance aggregation switch, connecting multiple downstream EdgeSwitch units with an SFP uplink to an EdgeRouter Pro. Alternatively, it aggregates multiple EdgeRouter X SFP devices, offering flexibility in designing distributed networks.
