Performance and Antenna Technology

The LBE-5AC-XR utilizes an internal, highly isolated 29 dBi directional antenna with a narrow beamwidth of just 5.5° (3 dB) in horizontal and vertical polarization, as well as elevation. This focused beam enables extremely long, interference-free links and efficient use of the 5 GHz spectrum from 5.15 to 5.85 GHz. With channel bandwidths from 10 to 80 MHz and a maximum conducted transmit power of 25 dBm, the device flexibly adapts to regional regulations and link budgets. The 0° electrical downtilt and 20 dB isolation between polarizations ensure precise, predictable radiation patterns.

Mechanical Design and Mounting

The housing is made of aluminum alloy and UV-stabilized polycarbonate, providing IPX6 protection against heavy water jets. With dimensions of 747 x 525 x 347 mm and a weight of just 3.2 kg, the device remains manageable despite its size. The integrated mast mount, made of UV-stabilized polycarbonate, accommodates pipe diameters from 35 to 60 mm and is rated for wind loads of 1100 N at 200 km/h. A single GbE RJ45 port handles data and passive PoE power (2-pair, 4,5+; 7,8-).

Management and Software

The airOS® operating system provides a full web UI, accessible via modern browsers or the UISP™ Mobile App. A dedicated management radio (2.4 GHz) enables quick initial configuration without accessing the 5 GHz data radio. For ongoing operation, SNMP, SSH, dynamic DNS, remote logging, and a ping watchdog are available. Built-in tools such as airView® spectrum analysis, speed test, antenna alignment, discovery, and constellation diagrams support planning, optimization, and troubleshooting directly on the device.

Security and Use Cases

The wireless interface is encrypted with WPA2-PSK (AES). The CPE operates in both Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) modes, making it ideal for backbone links, connecting remote sites, or building directional wireless networks with multiple clients. Certifications from the FCC, IC, and CE confirm compliance for international use. The operating temperature range of -40 to 70 °C and humidity tolerance of 5 to 95% (non-condensing) allow year-round outdoor deployment in nearly all climates.
