Serial Connectivity & Network Integration

The mPort-S provides dual physical interfaces for serial devices: a standard DB9 serial port and a terminal block connector, both supporting RS232, RS422, and RS485 protocols. This flexibility allows direct connection to a wide variety of equipment without additional adapters. Network integration is achieved through an onboard 10/100 Ethernet port or the integrated Wi-Fi radio, which operates on 802.11b/g/n standards with an output power of 18 dBm. The device can connect to an existing IP network via wired or wireless links, ensuring reliable data transport from serial endpoints.

Hardware Design & Installation

Engineered for straightforward deployment, the mPort-S includes a wall-mount bracket and measures 100 x 60 x 27.5 mm (3.94 x 2.36 x 1.08") without the bracket, or 100 x 60 x 36.5 mm (3.94 x 2.36 x 1.44") with it. Total weight with the bracket is 119 g. Three front-panel LEDs indicate power, Ethernet link/activity, and device status for at-a-glance diagnostics. Both an internal antenna and an external antenna are supplied, offering installation flexibility in varied RF environments.

Power & Environmental Reliability

The device is powered via a 24V, 0.5A supply with integrated surge protection, and an integrated PoE adapter is included for streamlined cabling. Maximum power consumption is 3W. The mPort-S is built to operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to 70° C (14 to 158° F) and humidity levels of 5 to 80% noncondensing, making it suitable for demanding deployment conditions.
