Performance & Capacity

The U6-IW leverages WiFi 6 (802.11ax) to deliver up to 4.8 Gbps on the 5 GHz radio with 4x4 DL/UL MU-MIMO and 160 MHz channel support. The 2.4 GHz radio provides 2x2 UL MU-MIMO and 573.5 Mbps throughput. With 8 BSSIDs per radio, 300+ concurrent clients, and coverage up to 115 m² (1,250 ft²), it excels in high-density environments like offices, hotels, and classrooms.

Design & Power

The U6-IW features a compact, low-profile design (139.7 x 96 x 31.2 mm) with a plastic and aluminum enclosure and an aluminum mount. It installs directly on a wall using the included bracket. Power is supplied via PoE (44–57VDC) from a UniFi PoE switch or optional 48V adapter. The built-in switch provides four GbE data-out ports, one of which can deliver up to 15.4W PoE passthrough when powered by a PoE+ switch. Maximum power consumption is 13.5W (excluding PoE output). A white/blue LED indicates status, and a factory reset button is accessible.

Management & Security

The U6-IW is managed through the UniFi Network application (version 6.0.45 and later) via Ethernet or Bluetooth. It supports 802.1Q VLANs, per-user rate limiting, and advanced wireless security including WPA-PSK and WPA-Enterprise (WPA/WPA2/WPA3). Guest traffic isolation, captive hotspot portal with custom branding, voucher, payment, and external server authentication, and Private Pre-Shared Key (PPSK) enable secure, flexible guest access. RADIUS over TLS (RadSec) and dynamic RADIUS-assigned VLANs enhance enterprise authentication.

Deployment & Use Cases

Ideal for hospitality, education, and enterprise branch offices, the U6-IW extends wired and wireless connectivity from a single wall location. It operates reliably in temperatures from -30 to 60° C and 5–95% noncondensing humidity. The access point is NDAA compliant and carries CE, FCC, IC, SRRC, and Anatel certifications, ensuring global regulatory compliance.
