High-Performance Switching Architecture

The USW-Pro-48 Gen2 delivers a switching capacity of 176 Gbps and a non-blocking throughput of 88 Gbps. With a forwarding rate of 130.944 Mpps, it handles traffic across all ports simultaneously without packet loss. Jumbo frames, flow control, and storm control optimize data flow, while QoS (DSCP) ensures prioritized handling of business-critical applications. Multicast and broadcast rate limiting, along with advanced IGMP features (querier, fast leave, router port), guarantee efficient network utilization.

Comprehensive Layer 3 Features

In addition to Layer 2 switching protocols, the switch integrates powerful Layer 3 capabilities. Inter-VLAN routing, static routing (up to 256 IPv4 routes), and a local DHCP server enable traffic segmentation and control directly on the switch. DHCP relay forwards requests to central servers. Support for 1,000 VLANs and a MAC address table with 16,000 entries provides ample scalability for growing networks. Access control lists (128 IPv4 ACLs, 128 MAC ACLs) allow for granular security policies.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Redundancy

With 40 PoE+ ports (32 W) and 8 PoE++ ports (64 W), the switch powers a wide range of endpoints—from Wi-Fi access points to power-hungry PTZ cameras or AV-over-IP solutions. The total PoE budget is 600 W. For high availability, redundancy is provided via the USP-RPS DC input: in the event of an internal 60 W power supply failure, the external SmartPower RPS seamlessly takes over. Maximum power consumption is 60 W (without PoE) or 660 W (with PoE output).

Management and Security

Integration with the UniFi Network Controller (version 5.10.5 or later) enables centralized provisioning, real-time monitoring, and configuration via a unified interface. The 1.3-inch touchscreen on the device displays status information directly. Comprehensive security mechanisms protect the network: 802.1X authentication, MAC-based ACLs and device isolation, DHCP snooping and guarding, IP-based ACLs, port isolation and mirroring, and MAC address blocking. Voice VLAN, LLDP-MED, and loop protection optimize VoIP and multimedia applications. Pro AV profiles (including Dante, Q-SYS, NDI, SDVoE, Shure, AES67, and Crestron) simplify the setup of professional AV networks.

Design and Reliability

The robust SGCC steel housing and included rackmount brackets allow for 1U installation in 19-inch racks with depths from 400 to 1,200 mm. Dimensions are 442.4 x 285.4 x 43.7 mm, and the weight is 4.00 kg (4.09 kg with brackets). The switch operates reliably in ambient temperatures from -5 to 40 °C and humidity levels of 10 to 90% (non-condensing). ESD protection (air: ±16 kV, contact: ±12 kV) and compliance with the ETSI300-019-1.4 standard for shock and vibration ensure durability. The switch is NDAA-compliant and holds certifications including CE, FCC, IC, and Anatel.
