Performance & Throughput

The USW-Pro-48-POE delivers a switching capacity of 176 Gbps and a total non-blocking throughput of 88 Gbps, with a forwarding rate of 131 million packets per second. Its 4 MB packet buffer and support for up to 1,000 VLANs and 16,000 MAC addresses ensure smooth traffic handling even in demanding multi-tenant or campus environments. Jumbo frame support and flow control further optimize data-intensive applications.

Power over Ethernet

With 40 ports supporting 802.3af/at PoE+ (up to 32W each) and 8 ports delivering 802.3bt PoE++ (up to 64W each), the switch can power a wide range of devices—from access points and cameras to high-power PTZ cameras and PoE-powered switches. The internal 660W power supply provides a total PoE availability of 600W, while auto-sensing IEEE 802.3af/at/bt ensures safe, plug-and-play power delivery.

Layer 3 Capabilities

Beyond traditional Layer 2 switching, the USW-Pro-48-POE offers integrated Layer 3 features, including inter-VLAN routing, static routing (up to 256 IPv4 routes), and DHCP server functionality. These capabilities reduce reliance on external routers for local network segmentation, simplifying architecture and improving performance for distributed deployments.

Management & Security

Managed via the UniFi Network application (version 5.10.5 and later), the switch provides a comprehensive suite of security and traffic control tools. Features include 802.1X authentication, MAC-based and IP-based ACLs, DHCP snooping and guarding, port isolation, storm control, and egress rate limiting. Advanced IGMP snooping with querier, fast leave, and router port configuration optimizes multicast traffic, while Pro AV profiles (Dante, Q-SYS, NDI, SDVoE, and more) ensure seamless integration in professional media environments.

Design & Deployment

Housed in a robust SGCC steel enclosure, the 1U rack-mountable switch fits standard 19" racks with a supported depth of 400–1200 mm. The integrated fans employ PWM control, air ducts, and temperature sensors for near-silent cooling, making it suitable for open workspaces. A 1.3" touchscreen provides instant visibility into system status, while ESD protection (±16kV air, ±12kV contact) and an operating temperature range of -5 to 40°C ensure reliability in varied environments.
