Performance and Throughput

The USW-24 Gen2 delivers a switching capacity of 52 Gbps and a non-blocking throughput of 26 Gbps, ensuring line-rate forwarding across all ports. With a forwarding rate of 39 million packets per second, it handles demanding traffic patterns without bottlenecks. The switch supports up to 1,000 VLANs and a MAC address table of 8,000 entries, enabling large-scale network segmentation. Jumbo frame support and a 0.5 MB packet buffer further optimize data flows for modern applications.

Power over Ethernet (PoE)

Sixteen ports provide PoE+ (802.3af/at) with a total power budget of 95W, capable of delivering up to 32W per port. This allows direct powering of UniFi access points, IP cameras, and VoIP phones without additional injectors. The internal 120W power supply ensures stable PoE output, while the switch’s maximum power consumption of 25W (excluding PoE) keeps operational costs low. Intelligent power management monitors and allocates PoE resources dynamically through the UniFi controller.

Management and Features

Managed entirely through the UniFi Network application, the USW-24 Gen2 offers a comprehensive Layer 2 feature set. Advanced capabilities include LACP port aggregation, STP/RSTP, IGMP snooping with querier and fast leave, 802.1X authentication, DHCP snooping and guarding, and storm control. Security is enforced via MAC-based ACLs, IP-based ACLs, device isolation, port isolation, and MAC address blocking. Additional features such as voice VLAN, LLDP-MED, port mirroring, loop protection, and egress rate limiting provide granular control for converged networks.

Design and Deployment

Housed in a robust SGCC steel enclosure, the switch occupies a 1U rack space with a depth of only 200 mm, fitting shallow cabinets and wall-mount racks. The fanless design ensures silent operation, making it suitable for noise-sensitive environments. A 1.3" touchscreen LCM displays boot status, firmware upgrades, and adoption state, while per-port LEDs indicate link speed and activity. ESD protection (air: ±16kV, contact: ±12kV) and an operating temperature range of -5 to 40°C guarantee reliability. The switch is NDAA compliant and carries CE, FCC, IC, and Anatel certifications.
