Technical Overview

The SFP port extends the four copper ports with a fiber uplink, making the switch a good choice whenever the distance between a field cabinet and the control room exceeds copper's reach. Store-and-forward switching, a MAC address table of up to 2,000 entries and jumbo frame support up to 9 KB keep throughput stable, while broadcast, multicast and unicast storm control together with IEEE 802.1p QoS across four hardware queues per port guard against congestion. The compact metal enclosure (112.2 x 29.1 x 89.4 mm, 0.32 kg) is entirely fanless, and redundant power through a 12 to 58 VDC terminal block plus an alarm relay (1 A at 24 V) add further operational resilience.

Mounting

The DIS-100G-5SW is designed for standard DIN-rail mounting, with wall mounting available as an alternative - compact enough for field cabinets and outdoor enclosures where space is tight.

Product Status Notice

The D-Link DIS-100G-5SW has been discontinued by D-Link (End of Sale since 7 May 2022). According to the manufacturer, support continues until 6 May 2027. D-Link does not name an official successor for this model; for new projects we recommend the current models in the DIS-100G / DIS-210G / DIS-310G series.
