Course Content and Learning Objectives

The curriculum covers all relevant knowledge domains for professional WLAN design. From the physical fundamentals of RF technology to channel planning and modulation techniques, as well as security aspects and optimization of existing networks – participants gain a deep understanding of the entire Wi-Fi architecture. The content is aligned with current standards and includes Wi-Fi 7, 6 GHz operation, and complementary technologies such as UWB, BLE, Zigbee, and Private 5G.

• RF Fundamentals: Wavelength, frequency, amplitude, phase, noise, interference, SNR, free-space path loss, wall attenuation measurement.
• Wi-Fi Channels and Transmit Power: Channel allocation in 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz, DFS, AFC, PSD, channel planning (CCI/ACI), MIMO, MCS tables.
• Modulation and Spectrum: BPSK, QPSK, QAM, EVM, DSSS, OFDM, OFDMA, FHSS, airtime considerations.
• Association and Roaming: 802.11 MAC frames, active/passive discovery, in-band/out-of-band, roaming decision processes.

Hands-On Exercises and Ekahau Tools

The course combines expert instruction with 13 hands-on exercises that simulate real-world deployment scenarios. Participants work with a temporary Ekahau Connect license that provides access to Ekahau AI Pro Online, Ekahau Survey, and Analyzer. This enables design, measurement, and analysis workflows directly on their own computer and mobile device.

Certification and Accreditation

Upon successful completion and passing the exam, participants receive the ECSE Design certification, which validates their competence in professional WLAN design using Ekahau solutions.
