Course Content and Knowledge Domains
The curriculum covers all relevant areas of professional WLAN troubleshooting. The content is structured into nine knowledge domains that align precisely with the exam requirements:
- Ekahau Tools & Methodology (7 %): The three steps to optimal Wi-Fi – Design, Validation, and Health Checks – as well as targeted use of Ekahau AI Pro, Ekahau Connect Suite, and Sidekick 2.
- Troubleshooting Tools & Methodology (20 %): Reactive vs. proactive troubleshooting, the 9 most common performance factors and 7 typical user complaints, structured troubleshooting checklists, and the three “C’s” of survey analysis (Coverage, Capacity, Channels).
- 802.11 Fundamentals & Operations (15 %): Channels, frequencies, OBSS, Wi-Fi PHYs, and CSMA/CA – the essential foundation for in-depth analysis.
- Wi-Fi Assessment Surveys & Design (20 %): Requirement definition (Business, Technical, RF, LCMI), analysis of survey and live data with Ekahau AI Pro, Survey, and Analyzer, ultra-precise site survey methods (Stop & Go, Continuous, Autopilot, JustGo, GPS), and device offsets.
- Protocol Analysis (10 %): Capturing and analyzing WLAN frames with Ekahau Analyzer and Sidekick 2, OSI model, encapsulation, and BSS discovery on 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz.
- WLAN Association (7 %): Detailed analysis of connection establishment and common error sources.
- WLAN Security (7 %): Security standards and best practices for troubleshooting in secure environments.
- WLAN Analysis (7 %): Interpreting live network data to identify bottlenecks and interferences.
- Spectrum Analysis (7 %): Using Sidekick 2 to detect non-Wi-Fi-based interference sources and their effects.
Hands-On Methodology and Practical Labs
The training combines expert presentations with extensive lab exercises based on real-world implementation projects. Participants work directly with Ekahau AI Pro, Survey, and Analyzer — both on their own computers and on mobile devices. Each scenario follows a structured troubleshooting process: from initial symptom identification through targeted data collection using assessment surveys, protocol, and spectrum analysis to fast, precise root-cause analysis. Integration of Ekahau and Speedtest is used to solve problems even more efficiently. Updated content on 6 GHz deployments and new Wi-Fi challenges ensures that learned skills are immediately applicable to current environments.
Certification and Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the course and the multiple-choice exam, participants receive the ECSE Troubleshooting Certification, valid for three years. The curriculum is BICSI-accredited, allowing participants to earn BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CECs). Exam questions are distributed according to the nine knowledge domains and validate both theoretical knowledge and practical analytical skills.
Technical Requirements and Languages
To participate, learners need administrative rights on their local computer to install Ekahau AI Pro, a stable internet connection, a computer with video and audio capabilities, and a physical mouse. A temporary Ekahau Connect license is provided, enabling use of Ekahau AI Pro on the computer and Ekahau Survey and Analyzer on the mobile device. The training is offered worldwide in nine languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Mandarin Chinese, and Hindi.
