Description

Highlights at a Glance

  • Flexible connectivity: eight copper GE ports plus four GE SFP ports for uplink or fiber aggregation
  • Layer 3 routing: static routes, RIPv1/v2, RIPng, OSPF, and OSPFv3 on a single platform
  • VLAN scale: 4094 VLANs with assignment by MAC address, protocol, IP subnet, policy, or port
  • Interoperability: VBST compatible with PVST, PVST+, and RPVST, plus LNP for automatic link negotiation
  • Campus-ready: cost-effective and energy-efficient architecture tailored for medium-sized campus deployments

Networking & Routing

The switch supports multiple Layer 3 routing protocols, including static routing, RIPv1/v2, RIPng, OSPF, and OSPFv3, enabling flexible inter-VLAN and inter-subnet forwarding within medium-sized campus networks. VLAN capacity extends to 4094 VLANs, with Voice VLAN and MUX VLAN features available alongside assignment methods based on MAC addresses, protocols, IP subnets, policies, and ports. Interoperability with existing Cisco-style spanning-tree environments is provided through VBST, which is compatible with PVST, PVST+, and RPVST, while LNP offers automatic link-type negotiation similar to DTP.

MAC Features

MAC address management includes auto-learning and aging, as well as support for static, dynamic, and blackhole MAC address entries. The switch performs packet filtering based on source MAC addresses and enforces interface-based MAC address learning limits, giving administrators granular control over address-table population and traffic originating from specific endpoints. These capabilities support stable, controlled forwarding behavior in environments where endpoint identity and access boundaries matter.
