5G Multi-Cellular Performance

The expansion module equips the HD4 MBX platform with four powerful 5G cellular modems, each featuring redundant SIM slots. The combined downlink data rate reaches up to 2 Gbps, with uplink speeds of up to 211 Mbps. Combined with SpeedFusion technology, cellular connections can be bonded into a highly available SD-WAN – including Hot Failover, Packet Smoothing, and Bandwidth Bonding. A router throughput of 2.5 Gbps ensures that even bandwidth-intensive applications run without bottlenecks.

Flexible SIM and Carrier Options

The module supports a wide range of SIM formats: classic Mini-SIM (2FF), Peplink eSIM, BYO eSIM with two profiles, Remote SIM via a SIM Injector, and FusionSIM. This allows for the simultaneous use of up to 8 different mobile carriers – or up to 16 with the optional SIM Injector. This flexibility minimizes dead zones and ensures continuous connectivity, even during carrier outages or in border regions.

Rugged Connectivity for Vehicle and Industrial Environments

The HD4 MBX Expansion Module 5G is designed for tough deployment conditions. The integrated Ignition Sense pin enables seamless integration into vehicle installations. An operating temperature range of -40 °C to 65 °C and humidity tolerance of 15% to 95% (non-condensing) make it suitable for extreme environments. Certifications such as EN61373 (shock and vibration resistance), EN50155 (railway applications), and EN61000 (EMC) confirm its suitability for use in rail vehicles and industrial applications. Additionally, the module meets FCC, CE, RoHS, E-Mark, PTCRB, and ESN (Emergency Services Network) requirements.
