Connectivity & Performance

The built-in 5G modem enables downlink data rates of up to 3,4 Gbit/s and uplink data rates of up to 900 Mbit/s, with native support for 5G NSA and SA modes, including private 5G networks. When 5G coverage is unavailable, LTE CAT-20 fallback provides downlink speeds of up to 1,6 Gbit/s and uplink speeds of up to 200 Mbit/s. The router achieves a throughput of 300 Mbit/s and is designed for 1 to 60 users.

Two redundant SIM slots support Nano-SIM, Peplink eSIM, BYO eSIM with two profiles, Remote SIM from the SIM Injector, and FusionSIM options. The device supports 3G fallback on WCDMA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+ bands B1, B5, and B8. Four SMA cellular antenna connectors enable optimal reception across the supported frequency spectrum, and the WAN port can be converted to a LAN port for flexible network topologies.

Rugged Design & Power Supply

The rugged metal enclosure features a fanless, vent-free design certified for shock and vibration resistance, making it suitable for mobile and industrial deployments. It operates at ambient temperatures from -40°F to 149°F (-40°C to 65°C) and humidity of 15 % to 95 % (noncondensing). The enclosure measures 5,0 x 4,2 x 1,4 inches (125,7 x 107 x 35 mm) and weighs 0,93 lb (420 grams).

Power input accepts 10V to 30V DC, with an included 12V 2A power supply. The GE LAN port supports 802.3at PoE input for simplified installation. The power connector features GPIO with ignition sensing for vehicle applications, and the device consumes 10W in normal operation and up to 16W maximum. This variant omits Wi-Fi and GPS functionality, making it suitable for networks requiring highly secure, purely wired connections.

Security, VPN & Management

The stateful firewall includes DoS protection and web blocking. VPN support includes SpeedFusion VPN with 256-bit AES encryption, IPsec VPN for network-to-network connections, and PPTP VPN server functionality. SpeedFusion VPN throughput reaches 80 Mbit/s without encryption and 60 Mbit/s with 256-bit AES, supporting 2 peers, expandable to 5. Hot Failover, Smoothing, and bandwidth bonding require a PrimeCare subscription or a Feature Pack.

Device management is available via a web administration interface, a command-line interface, and Peplink InControl cloud management. The router supports SNMP v1, v2c, and v3, syslog service, and email notifications. Load balancing algorithms include Weighted Balance, Priority, Overflow, Persistence, Least Used, Lowest Latency, Enforced, and Fastest Response Time. QoS features provide individual bandwidth limiting and application prioritization for SIP, HTTPS, and VPN traffic, with captive portal support including RADIUS authentication and customizable login pages.

Certifications & Compliance

The MAX BR1 Mini holds FCC, CE, and RoHS certifications. It is certified for electromagnetic compatibility per EN 61000 and for fire safety in rail vehicles per EN 45545-2. Additional certifications include UL+CUL (62368-1) and UL 121201 for Class I, Division 2 environments. US carrier certifications cover AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and FirstNet, and the device is approved for use in the APAC and EMEA regions.

Package Contents

Included in the package are 2x LTE antennas (ACW-342) and a 12V 2A power supply. Available accessories include a DIN rail mounting kit (ACW-DIN-BR1-MINI), DC power cables, a vehicle cigarette lighter cable, and various 5G-capable cellular antenna systems with GPS. PrimeCare subscriptions and Feature Packs are available separately to unlock SpeedFusion features such as Hot Failover, Smoothing, and bandwidth bonding.
