Product Overview
The MIMO-3-17 combines seven antennas in a single housing, providing four cellular MIMO antennas for 2G, 3G, and 4G, two separate dual-band Wi-Fi antennas, and a high-performance active GPS/GLONASS system. The four cellular MIMO antennas cover current bands from 698 MHz to 2700 MHz and additionally support the LTE and 5G spectrum for CBRS bands at 450 MHz and 3.5 GHz. The ultra-wideband performance enables use across various operators and technologies and is ready for future cellular technologies up to 3.8 GHz.
The two Wi-Fi antennas simultaneously support 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz on each antenna with 2x2 MIMO capability. The active GPS/GLONASS system operates in ambient temperatures down to -40 °C and achieves a GPS gain of 21 dBi. The radiation patterns of all radiating elements provide an excellent balance between omnidirectional coverage, pattern diversity, and strong radiation at the desired elevation.
Performance & Throughput
In the LTE range, the antenna achieves a maximum gain of 6.2 dBi at 1710–2700 MHz, 2.2 dBi at 698–960 MHz, 1.5 dBi at 410–470 MHz, and 4.8 dBi at 3400–3800 MHz. The Wi-Fi antennas achieve a maximum gain of 7 dBi in the 2400–2500 MHz and 5000–6000 MHz bands. The VSWR is ≤2.5:1 across 90% of the bands for ports 1–4 and 5–6, while port 7 (GPS) has a VSWR of ≤1.5:1.
The carefully designed, decorrelated antenna elements ensure superior MIMO performance in both dual-band Wi-Fi and cellular bands. The input impedance is 50 ohms (nominal), and the antenna can handle a feed power of 10 W. The polarization is linear vertical, and the radiation pattern is omnidirectional.
Design & Durability
The housing is made of UV-stabilized ASA material and is IP68-rated for protection against water and dust ingress. The antenna has passed salt-spray tests according to MIL-STD 810F/ASTM B117 and achieves an impact resistance rating of IK 10. The housing is classified with a flammability rating of UL 94-HB.
The antenna is designed for operation in ambient temperatures from -40 °C to +80 °C and withstands wind speeds of up to 220 km/h. The relative humidity during operation can reach up to 98%. This mechanical durability makes the antenna particularly suitable for the transport and marine markets, for which it was specifically developed.
Applications
The MIMO-3-17 is designed for use in commercial vehicles, maritime, M2M, and other IoT systems that utilize a variety of wireless technologies. Typical applications include broadband and Wi-Fi distribution, automation, and telemetry for buses, utilities, trucks, and public safety vehicles.
Additional use cases include industrial factory automation, robotic machinery, agricultural automation, and broadband cellular-to-Wi-Fi distribution for inland and coastal vessels. The antenna is also suitable for communication, telemetry, and automation systems in mining vehicles and machinery.
Connectivity & Mounting
The antenna features seven ports: ports 1–4 for LTE, ports 5–6 for Wi-Fi, and port 7 for GPS/GLONASS. All connections use SMA (male) connectors on 2 m RTK-031 coaxial cables. Coaxial cable losses are 0.350 dB/m at 400 MHz, 0.560 dB/m at 900 MHz, 0.785 dB/m at 1800 MHz, and 1.20 dB/m at 3000 MHz.
The internal ground plane makes the antenna ground-plane independent, allowing mounting on any surface. Available mounting options include spigot, surface, and magnetic mounting. The MBK-3 mounting kit is supported as an accessory. The GPS module operates with a DC voltage of 2.7–3.3 V and a DC current of 5–15 mA, with a noise figure of ≤1.5 dB.
Supported Frequency Bands & Standards
The cellular frequency coverage ranges from 617 MHz to 7200 MHz and includes a wide range of 5G bands from n1 to n256 as well as LTE/4G bands from B1 to B106. The antenna supports Wi-Fi standards 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac, and 802.11ax, including Wi-Fi 6E. GPS frequencies are 1575.42 MHz and 1600 MHz.
The product configuration includes 5G, GPS, CBRS, IoT, and Wi-Fi. The out-of-band filter attenuation is at least 12 dB at f0+50 MHz and at least 16 dB at f0-50 MHz. The maximum power for the GPS module is rated at 50 W.
Certifications & Compliance
The antenna complies with the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and is certified to ISO 9001:2015. The CE marking confirms conformity with European requirements. The IP68 rating and salt-spray testing according to MIL-STD 810F/ASTM B117 demonstrate suitability for harsh environmental conditions in both outdoor and indoor settings.
