Product Overview

The OMNI-297 is part of Poynting’s Rhyno antenna range and is designed as a broadband omnidirectional mobile antenna, covering all contemporary 5G and LTE frequency bands between 698 and 3800 MHz. The antenna delivers superior radiation characteristics across its entire frequency range, making it an exceptional omnidirectional antenna for its size. Its consistent gain across the frequency spectrum improves LTE performance features such as multi-carrier aggregation (CA). The ideal application is fixed installations across any mobile frequency band, particularly for machine-to-machine and Internet of Things applications communicating over GSM networks.

Performance & Frequency Coverage

The antenna operates across three frequency bands: 698 to 960 MHz, 1710 to 2700 MHz, and 3400 to 3800 MHz. In the lower band, it achieves a maximum gain of -1.5 dBi, while in the two upper bands, it reaches 2 dBi, resulting in a peak gain of 2 dBi. The VSWR is a maximum of 2.5:1, with an input impedance of 50 ohms. The antenna is rated for a feed power of up to 10 W and uses linear vertical polarization. It is SISO-configured and supports 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G technologies, as well as 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

Design & Mounting

The flat and robust housing is made of UV-stable ASA plastic in grey (Pantone 429C) and measures 150 mm × Ø70 mm, weighing 0.35 kg. Mounting options include wall or pole mounting with the included bracket or surface mounting with an adhesive pad. A 0.6 m RG-58 coaxial cable with an SMA male connector is permanently attached to the antenna. The cable attenuation is 0.48 dB/m at 900 MHz, 0.71 dB/m at 1800 MHz, 0.86 dB/m at 2400 MHz, and 1.0 dB/m at 3000 MHz. A DC short-circuit path to ground is provided.

Environmental & Protection Ratings

The antenna is designed for indoor and outdoor use and carries an IP68 rating for protection against water and dust ingress. It is vandal-resistant, dustproof, and resistant to salt spray according to MIL-STD 810F and ASTM B117. Its impact resistance meets IK 10, and the housing is fire-resistant with a flammability rating of UL 94-HB. The wind survival rate is up to 190 km/h. The permissible operating temperature range is from -40 °C to +80 °C, with relative humidity up to 98%. Storage temperature matches the operating range, while storage humidity ranges from 5% to 95% non-condensing.

Certifications & Compliance

The antenna complies with CE and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, as well as the ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. The combination of IP68, IK 10, MIL-STD 810F, ASTM B117, and UL 94-HB makes it suitable for demanding industrial and outdoor applications. The manufacturer provides a 24-month warranty.
