Design and Applications

The DASH-3 is specifically engineered for low-profile applications such as smart meters. It is typically mounted on the top or side surface of meter enclosures and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations. Its omnidirectional radiation pattern ensures a stable connection regardless of the antenna’s orientation.

M2M and IoT applications include remote reading of electricity, gas, and water meters, access control and HVAC in smart buildings, digital signage, environmental and water systems, industrial automation, as well as agriculture and logistics.

Supported Technologies and Bands

The antenna covers the entire cellular frequency range of 400–510 MHz and is compatible with LoRa 433 MHz, CDMA 450, and LTE-M/NB-IoT 450 MHz technologies. It supports LTE bands 31, 72, and 73, as well as 5G bands n31 and n72. The specific frequency bands include 410–450 MHz, 433 MHz, and 450–470 MHz.

The SISO configuration with one LTE port and an SMA connector simplifies integration into existing M2M systems. The nominal impedance is 50 ohms, and the antenna features a DC short circuit for protection against electrostatic discharge.

Environmental Resistance and Compliance

The halogen-free ABS/PC radome provides IP67 protection (excluding spigot mounting) and withstands impacts in accordance with protection class IK 08. The antenna resists wind speeds of up to 160 km/h and relative humidity of up to 98% during operation. Salt spray resistance is certified to MIL-STD 810F/ASTM B117.

The operating temperature range is -40 °C to +75 °C, identical to the storage temperature range. The cable has a flammability rating of UL 94-HB. Applicable certifications and standards include RoHS 2011/65/EU, ISO 9001:2015, CE, EN, CSA, and IEC.

Installation and Cabling

Mounting is possible either via the adhesive backing or an M8 spigot (17 mm) with an M8 brass nut, offering two attachment options for smooth or perforated surfaces. The antenna is supplied with a 1 m ±5% RG-174 cable with an SMA connector. Cable attenuation is 0.62 dB/m at 400 MHz.
