Applications

The antenna is designed for M2M and IoT communications in mines and tunnels. Typical use cases include underground telemetry, mining automation, and supplementing fiber-optic and cable networks with hotspots in hard-to-reach areas. It is also suitable for establishing tunnel-wide data networks with internet, LTE, and Wi-Fi connectivity to provide seamless communication for personnel via mobile phones, tablets, and smart devices.

Performance & Radiation Pattern

Across the entire frequency range of 1700 to 7200 MHz, the antenna achieves a peak gain of 9.5 dBi. The circular polarization enhances signal stability within the tunnel. As a unidirectional antenna, it radiates in a single direction, making it advantageous for linear propagation in tunnel sections. The configuration is SISO with one port. The feed power is up to 30 W with a nominal input impedance of 50 ohms. The VSWR is <1.75:1 over 90% of the band.

Frequency Coverage

The antenna supports a wide range of cellular bands, including 5G bands from n1 to n256 and LTE/4G bands from B1 to B255. For Wi-Fi, it covers Wi-Fi 3 (802.11g), Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), and Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax). The supported frequency bands include 1700–1900 MHz, 1900–2200 MHz, 2300–2400 MHz, 2400–2500 MHz, 2500–2700 MHz, 3400–3800 MHz, 5000–6000 MHz, and 6000–7200 MHz.

Durability & Environmental Conditions

The housing is IP 65-rated for protection against water and dust ingress and is designed for outdoor and indoor use. The antenna withstands wind speeds of up to <120 km/h and operates in relative humidity levels of up to 98%. It is tested to MIL-STD 810F/ASTM B117 for salt spray resistance and has an impact resistance rating of IK 08. The housing material consists of ABS and PVC with a UL 94-HB flammability rating. The operating and storage temperature range is from -40 °C to +70 °C.

Connection & Mounting

The antenna comes with a 350 mm RG-58 coaxial cable and an N-Type (M) connector. Cable attenuation is 0.71 dB/m at 1800 MHz, 0.86 dB/m at 2400 MHz, 1.0 dB/m at 3000 MHz, and 2.10 dB/m at 5800 MHz. Installation is via ceiling mount. Included accessories are the BRKT-45 and BRKT-47 mounting brackets. The radome is gray, and the product dimensions are 411 mm × 142 mm × 114 mm with a weight of 1.20 kg.
