Description

Highlights at a Glance

  • 4-in-1 architecture: two cellular MIMO ports and two dual-band Wi-Fi MIMO ports in one enclosure
  • 5G Ready: covers 2G/3G/4G/LTE bands from 698 MHz to 3800 MHz, including the CBRS band
  • Ground-plane independent: operates without a dedicated ground plane, simplifying installation on non-metallic surfaces
  • IP68 and vandal resistant: sealed against dust and water ingress, built to withstand impact rated to IK 10
  • Versatile mounting: spigot, pole, wall, surface, and magnetic mount options included as standard
  • Compact footprint: approximately 100 mm diameter and 36 mm height for low-profile deployments

Performance & Frequency Coverage

The two cellular MIMO antennas cover 698–960 MHz, 1710–2700 MHz, and 3200–3800 MHz, encompassing the most popular international LTE bands as well as the CBRS band. Peak gain on ports 1 and 2 reaches 6 dBi across the 1710–2700 MHz and 3200–3800 MHz ranges, while the lower 698–960 MHz band shows a peak gain of -1 dBi. The antenna is designated 5G Ready, supporting 2G, 3G, 4G, and LTE technologies across these wideband cellular ports.

The two Wi-Fi MIMO antennas operate concurrently on the 2.4–2.5 GHz and 5.0–6.0 GHz bands, supporting 802.11n and 802.11ac/ax with 2x2 MIMO. Peak gain on ports 3 and 4 is 5 dBi at 2400–2500 MHz and 7.5 dBi at 5000–6000 MHz. VSWR is rated at ≤2.5:1 over 85% of the band for the cellular ports and ≤2.5:1 over 95% of the band for the Wi-Fi ports. The radiation patterns of all radiating elements are designed to balance omnidirectionality, pattern diversity, and good radiation at the desired elevation, which supports LTE throughput and connection stability particularly at higher frequencies.

Design & Environmental Durability

The enclosure carries an IP68 ingress rating, making it waterproof and dustproof for outdoor and indoor use. Impact resistance is rated to IK 10, and the radome material is PC+ABS, halogen-free, with a UL 94-HB flammability rating. The enclosure is fire resistant and UV stable, ensuring long-term exposure to sunlight does not degrade the housing. Salt spray testing follows MIL-STD 810F/ASTM B117, making the antenna suitable for marine environments.

Operating temperature spans -40°C to +80°C, with operating relative humidity up to 98%. Storage conditions match the same temperature range, with storage humidity from 5% to 95% non-condensing. Wind survival is rated up to 220 km/h. The antenna measures Ø99.3 mm x 36 mm and weighs 0.476 kg, while packaged dimensions are 150 mm x 150 mm x 120 mm with a packaged weight of 0.607 kg.

Connectivity & Cable

Each antenna port connects via a 2-metre coax cable of type RTK-031, terminated with SMA Male connectors. The product name also references an RPSMA adapter, providing compatibility with devices that require reverse-polarity SMA connectors. Cable loss is specified at 0.56 dB/m at 900 MHz, 0.65 dB/m at 1500 MHz, 0.72 dB/m at 1800 MHz, and 1.2 dB/m at 3000 MHz. Input impedance is 50 Ohm nominal across all ports, and the feed power handling is rated at 10 W. A DC short is present, and a path to ground is provided.

Mounting & Installation

The antenna supports multiple mounting implementations, including a Ø20 threaded spigot, pole, wall, surface, and magnetic mount. Spigot, magnetic, adhesive, and bracket mounts are included as standard, enabling installation across a variety of vehicle, vessel, and fixed-site surfaces. Because the antenna is ground-plane independent, it can be mounted on non-metallic substrates without requiring an additional ground plane. Polarisation is linear vertical, and the omnidirectional radiation pattern supports orientation flexibility during deployment.

Applications & Use Cases

The PUCK-7 is designed for IoT/M2M, smart meter, smart utilities, transportation, marine, and agricultural or farming markets. Its compact size and multi-band coverage make it suitable for vehicles and vessels where space is constrained but multiple radio technologies must be served from a single housing. Both LTE ports are intended to be connected to the router or device to ensure the best MIMO performance. The wideband cellular coverage includes international LTE bands, supporting deployments that span multiple regions or operators.

Compliance & Warranty

The antenna is CE marked and compliant with RoHS 2011/65/EU. Manufacturing quality is governed by ISO 9001:2015 certification. Poynting provides a 24-month warranty on this product.
