The Poynting PUCK-8 is a 3-in-1 combination antenna for LTE and dual-band Wi-Fi, designed for use on vehicles as well as in IoT/M2M applications. It combines two LTE antennas and one Wi-Fi antenna in a compact housing and delivers an LTE gain of 6 dBi.

Application Areas

The PUCK-8 targets the IoT/M2M, smart meter, smart utilities, transport, marine and agriculture markets. It is suitable for use on vehicles, in machine-to-machine communication, and on small boats and yachts in coastal waters or on inland waterways. The antenna is designed for both LTE ports to be connected to the router or end device in order to achieve the best performance.

Design and Performance

The 3-in-1 antenna system is housed in a single enclosure and combines two cellular LTE antennas with one dual-band Wi-Fi antenna. Despite its small size, the antenna delivers excellent performance, particularly in the higher frequency bands, where performance is critical for LTE throughput and connection stability. The radiation patterns of all radiating elements offer a balanced combination of omnidirectional behaviour, pattern diversity and good radiation characteristics at the desired elevation. For SISO applications, the manufacturer recommends other derivatives of the PUCK series.

Connection and Cable Routing

The antenna comes with a 2-metre cable that terminates in an SMA male connector and an RPSMA adapter. The black version allows for unobtrusive integration on vehicles and in technical installations.
