Applications

The device is designed for a wide range of telematics use cases, including fleet management for light commercial vehicles, logbook recording, insurance telematics (UBI), car rental and leasing, and general connected-car scenarios. The combination of GNSS positioning, GSM data transmission, and Bluetooth connectivity meets the requirements of these applications in a single OBDII device. Additionally, the GNSS Fuel Counter provides fuel monitoring functionality.

Connectivity & Sensors

The GSM connection operates on quad-band frequencies 850/900/1800/1900 MHz with GPRS Multi-Slot Class 12 and data rates of up to 240 kbps. SMS is supported for text and data transmission. The Bluetooth 4.0 + LE interface enables connection to a temperature and humidity sensor, hands-free headset, Inateck Barcode Scanner, and universal BLE sensors. The built-in accelerometer is used for crash detection and ignition detection, with the latter also determined via the external supply voltage.

Configuration & Management

Configuration and firmware updates are available via FOTA Web, FOTA, the Teltonika Configurator (USB or Bluetooth), and the FMBT mobile app. SMS and GPRS commands support configuration, event handling, and debugging. Time synchronization is achieved via GPS, NITZ, or NTP. Two status LEDs indicate the device’s operating state.

Power & Power Supply

The input voltage range is 12 to 30 V DC with overvoltage protection, allowing the device to be powered directly via the OBDII port. An integrated backup battery (3.7 V, 40 mAh) provides power buffering, though this specification is not yet final according to the manufacturer. The operating temperature without the battery ranges from -40 °C to +85 °C at a humidity of 5 % to 95 % non-condensing. The device has an IP41 protection rating.
