Ubiquiti Rocket R5AC-Lite AirMax outdoor client 5GHz
SKU: r5ac-lite|9 ready to ship
Description
The Rocket R5AC-Lite is an airMAX ac outdoor radio from Ubiquiti for the 5 GHz band, designed to operate as an access point or station in long-range wireless links with an output power of up to 27 dBm.
Key advantages
airMAX ac: radio technology for 5 GHz wireless links with modulation up to 256QAM
Dual mode: operates as an access point or station depending on deployment type
Outdoor ruggedness: UV-stabilized polycarbonate housing with ±24 kV ESD protection
Passive PoE: power over Ethernet with included 24 V Gigabit adapter
WMM QoS: packet classification with high, medium, and low user priorities
Performance and radio frequency
The Rocket R5AC-Lite operates across a frequency range of 5150 to 5875 MHz, configurable according to local regulations in each country. Output power reaches 27 dBm, and the device supports airMAX ac modulations including schemes from 1x BPSK (½) to 8x 256QAM (5/6). In point-to-point mode, the radio allows channel widths of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80 MHz, while in point-to-multipoint mode it supports widths of 10, 20, 30, and 40 MHz. Receive sensitivity ranges from -96 dBm in 1x BPSK (½) to -65 dBm in 8x 256QAM (5/6), providing margin for long-distance links. Transmit power adjusts according to the modulation scheme, from 27 dBm ± 2 dB in the lowest modulations to 22 dBm ± 2 dB in 8x 256QAM (5/6).
Design and power
The unit features an Atheros MIPS 74Kc processor at 720 MHz with 128 MB of DDR2 SDRAM and 16 MB of NOR FLASH. The housing is made of UV-stabilized polycarbonate for outdoor use. Radio frequency connections use two waterproof RP-SMA connectors, and the network interface includes a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port. Power is supplied via 2-pair passive PoE, with a 24 V, 0.5 A adapter included in the package. The supported voltage range is 20 to 27 V DC, with a maximum power consumption of 8.5 W.
Management and services
The Rocket R5AC-Lite offers bridging, routing, DHCP, SNMP, SSH, and integrated web server services. It includes distance adjustment in both ackless mode and with dynamic ACK, and traffic shaping with burst support. Ubiquiti’s discovery protocol and frequency band offset are available to simplify link configuration. Statistical reports cover data rates, Ethernet link rate, packet errors, uptime, and wireless distance. WMM QoS classification allows high, medium, or low traffic priority per user.
Security and compliance
Link security is based exclusively on WPA2 AES encryption. The device complies with IC, CE, and RoHS standards, and holds Anatel certification under number 02861-15-08356. It is NDAA compliant. ESD/EMP protection of ±24 kV in air and contact, along with shock and vibration resistance certification per ETSI300-019-1.4, ensures operational integrity in demanding conditions. The operating temperature range extends from -40 to 80 °C, with operational humidity of 5 to 95% non-condensing.
