Use Cases

The Sidekick 2 supports professional Wi-Fi site surveys, validation of access point placement, and troubleshooting in existing networks. Since it measures 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz simultaneously, it covers legacy Wi-Fi 4/5/6 networks as well as new Wi-Fi 6E environments. Compared to the original Ekahau Sidekick, the number of radios doubles (4 instead of 2), the antenna count increases from 7 to 9, and the connection is now via USB-C instead of micro-USB.

Integration with Ekahau AI Pro

As a standalone measurement device, the Sidekick 2 requires Ekahau AI Pro (version 11.1 or later) and an active Ekahau Connect subscription, which includes Ekahau Survey, Ekahau Analyzer, Ekahau Insights, Ekahau Capture, and Ekahau Cloud depending on the license tier.

Measurement Accuracy

The built-in spectrum analyzer covers an amplitude range of -20 to -92 dBm and operates with a frequency resolution of 19 kHz at an 80 MHz capture bandwidth per band—significantly finer than the predecessor (up to 78 kHz, 20 MHz capture bandwidth). The operating temperature range is +5 °C to +35 °C.
