Cellular Connectivity

The router is equipped with a single integrated LTE-A Pro CAT-20 modem that supports an extensive list of LTE and 4G bands, including B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B14, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B28, B29, B30, B32, B34, B38, B39, B40, B41, B42, B46, B48, B66, and B71. It also offers 3G fallback via HSPA+/WCDMA on bands B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B8, and B9. The cellular antennas connect via four SMA connectors.

The router offers flexible SIM options, including Nano-SIM (4FF), Peplink eSIM, and BYO eSIM with up to two profiles. It carries US carrier certifications for AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon (C-Band), and FirstNet, enabling deployment on the major North American networks.

Wired Networking & Wi-Fi

The WAN interface comprises a 10/100/1000/2500M Ethernet port with a throughput of 2,5 Gbit/s, which can be converted into a LAN port when needed. By default, two 10/100/1000M Ethernet LAN ports are available. WAN features include support for PPPoE, static IP, DHCP, WAN link monitoring, bandwidth control, dynamic DNS services, and conversion of the WAN port into a LAN port.

On the LAN side, the router provides a DHCP server for LAN clients, advanced DHCP options, DHCP reservation, a DNS proxy for LAN clients, and VLAN support. The Wi-Fi operates in simultaneous dual-band mode on 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz with Wi-Fi 6 and 2×2 MU-MIMO. Two RP-SMA Wi-Fi antenna connectors are available. The router also supports Wi-Fi as WAN and operation as an access point.

SpeedFusion VPN & Security

SpeedFusion VPN is fully supported, including the Hot Failover, Smoothing, and Bandwidth Bonding features. SpeedFusion VPN throughput reaches 400 Mbit/s without encryption and 200 Mbit/s with 256-bit AES encryption. The number of supported SpeedFusion VPN peers varies by configuration between 2, 5, 10, or 20. Router throughput is 1 Gbit/s.

The complete VPN solution includes SpeedFusion VPN, site-to-site VPN, 256-bit AES encryption, authentication via pre-shared keys, dynamic routing, X.509 certificate support, IPsec VPN for network-to-network connectivity, and remote user access via PPTP, L2TP, and OpenVPN. Security features include a stateful firewall, DoS protection, and web filtering.

Load Balancing & QoS

Load balancing and failover are supported, with multiple outbound policy algorithms: Weighted Balance, Priority, Overflow, Persistence, Least Used, Lowest Latency, Enforced, and Fastest Response Time. Advanced QoS features include per-user bandwidth limiting, prioritization of applications such as SIP, HTTPS, and VPN traffic, and custom QoS rules for applications.

Networking features include NAT and IP forwarding, static routes, port forwarding, many-to-one and one-to-one NAT, NAT pool, SIP ALG, H.323 ALG, UPnP, and NAT-PMP. Drop-in mode is supported for transparent deployment scenarios.

AP Controller & Edge Computing

The router offers built-in AP controller support for Peplink AP series access points, with automatic AP detection, automatic AP firmware management, AP profile configuration, and Wi-Fi usage statistics. The maximum number of supported access points is 30 or 50, depending on the configuration.

Edge computing support is available for applications and Docker on hardware revision HW3 and later. An integrated GPS enables device location mapping, location tracking, and fleet management via InControl 2. An SMA GPS antenna connector is provided for GPS connectivity.

Power, Environment & Certifications

The router accepts DC input from 10 V to 30 V via a power connector with ignition sensing, making it suitable for vehicle installations. The included power supply accepts AC input from 100 V to 240 V and outputs 12 V DC. Power consumption is 8 W in normal operation and up to 19 W maximum. The included power supply is a 12V2A model.

The operating temperature range is between -40°C and 65°C, with humidity tolerance between 15 % and 95 % (non-condensing). The router carries certifications including FCC, CE, RoHS, and E-Mark for motor vehicles. It also complies with EN 61373 for shock and vibration resistance, EN 50155 for railway vehicles, EN 61000 for electromagnetic compatibility, and EN 45545-2 for fire protection in rail transport. These certifications enable deployment in transportation and industrial environments.

Scope of Delivery

Included in the delivery are a MAX BR1 Pro CAT-20 router, a 12V2A power supply (ACW-632), four LTE/5G antennas (ACW-234), two dual-band Wi-Fi antennas (ACW-341), and a GPS antenna (ACW-232). Separately available accessories include a 3-meter direct-connection DC cable (ACW-634), a 7-in-1 cellular and Wi-Fi antenna system with GPS receiver in White (ANT-MB-42G-S-W-6) or Black (ANT-MB-42G-S-B-6), and virtual WAN activation licenses LIC-VWAN and LIC-2VWAN. The router is designed for deployments with 1 to 150 users and ships with a 1-year limited warranty.
