Performance and Throughput

The RUT260 features a 4G LTE Cat 6 mobile module capable of achieving downlink speeds up to 300 Mbps, while remaining compatible with 3G networks offering up to 42 Mbps. Its Mediatek processor clocked at 580 MHz (MIPS 24Kc architecture), combined with 128 MB of DDR3 RAM and 16 MB of SPI Flash storage, ensures efficient network traffic processing for professional applications.

The router supports numerous LTE-FDD bands (B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B32) and LTE-TDD bands (B38, B39, B40, B41, B42, B43), as well as 3G bands B1, B3, and B5. Band locking and display of the active band allow mobile connection optimization based on the operator and deployment site.

Failover and Service Continuity

The RUT260 ensures connection continuity through an automatic failover mechanism between four WAN sources: Wi-Fi WAN, mobile, VRRP, and wired connection. Load balancing enables internet traffic distribution across multiple simultaneous WAN connections.

The router supports static and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF v2, RIP v1/v2, EIGRP, NHRP) as well as policy-based routing. Port-based and tag-based VLAN separation is also available, along with static and dynamic IP allocation via DHCP with DHCP Relay.

Security and VPN

The RUT260 includes a preconfigured firewall with unlimited customizable rules via CLI, featuring DMZ, NAT, NAT-T, and DDoS attack prevention covering SYN flood, SSH, and HTTP/HTTPS. Port scan prevention covers SYN-FIN, SYN-RST, X-mas, NULL flags, and FIN scan attacks.

The router supports multiple VPN protocols: OpenVPN, IPsec, GRE, PPTP, L2TP, SSTP, DMVPN, WireGuard, ZeroTier, and Tinc. OpenVPN offers a wide range of encryption methods, including AES-128-CBC, AES-256-GCM, and DES-EDE3-CBC. IPsec supports 3DES, DES, AES128, AES192, AES256, as well as GCM variants with 8, 12, and 16 bytes.

Wi-Fi security includes WPA3-EAP, WPA3-SAE, WPA2-Enterprise-PEAP, WPA2-PSK, and WEP, with encryption modes AES-CCMP, TKIP, and Auto Cipher, along with client isolation.

Design and Power Supply

The aluminum housing with plastic panels measures 83 x 25 x 74 mm and weighs just 130 g. The router can be mounted on a DIN rail or placed on a flat surface, and features an IP30 protection rating.

Power is supplied via a 4-pin industrial DC jack within a 9 to 30 VDC range, with power consumption below 2 W at idle and below 6.5 W at maximum load. Passive PoE on spare pairs allows powering the router via the LAN1 port (mode B, 9-30 VDC), without compatibility with IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at, and 802.3bt standards.

Management and Features

The RUT260 runs on RutOS, a Linux-based operating system derived from OpenWrt, offering flexible configuration via web interface, CLI, and SMS. SMS control and configuration include sending and reading SMS via HTTP POST/GET, EMAIL to SMS, SMS to EMAIL, scheduled SMS, and automatic replies.

The router supports numerous network protocols: TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, NTP, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, FTP, SMTP, SSL/TLS, ARP, VRRP, PPP, PPPoE, UPnP, SSH, DHCP, Telnet, SMPP, SNMP, MQTT, and Wake On Lan. Industrial protocols MQTT, SNMP, Modbus, OPC UA, and DNP3 are also supported.

Remote management is provided via the Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS). The router includes connection monitoring features such as Ping Reboot, Wget Reboot, periodic reboot, and LCP and ICMP link inspection. QoS enables priority queuing by source/destination, service, protocol, or port, with WMM and 802.11e.

The digital inputs/outputs include one input (0-6 V detected as low level, 8-30 V as high level) and one open-collector output (30 V max, 300 mA). The I/O juggler function allows defining I/O conditions to trigger automatic events.
