Wi-Fi 4 (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) operates on the 2.4 GHz band at up to 150 Mbps, secured with WPA2-PSK or WPA2-Enterprise. A USB 2.0 host port allows optional 4G/LTE connectivity via an external dongle, which is not included; the router ships without a built-in cellular module and relies on Ethernet or Wi-Fi for its primary uplink. The RS485 serial interface operates in half-duplex multi-drop mode and supports data bits of 5, 6, 7, or 8, stop bits of 1, 1.5, or 2, and parity settings of None, Even, Odd, Mark, or Space. Flow control options include RTS/CTS and XON/XOFF, and the interface carries 1.5 kV isolation with ESD protection for electrically harsh environments. Industrial Protocols & Data-to-Server Beyond Modbus RTU and ASCII on the serial side, the RUT145 supports Modbus, DLMS, DNP3, and OPC UA as industrial protocols, enabling direct communication with PLCs, energy meters, and other automation equipment. The Data-to-Server feature forwards collected telemetry to cloud platforms using HTTP/HTTPS, MQTT, Azure IoT Hub, AWS IoT, and IBM Watson, allowing the router to act as an edge gateway between field devices and enterprise IoT back-ends. Security & VPN A stateful packet inspection firewall provides NAT, port forwarding, DMZ, and access control lists to segment and protect attached end devices. The RUT145 enhances security through network isolation for end devices, limiting exposure of serial equipment to the wider network. VPN support spans OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, GRE, L2TP, PPTP, DMVPN, ZeroTier, Tinc, and SoftEther, giving engineers flexibility in establishing encrypted site-to-site or client-to-site tunnels. Management & Configuration The RUT145 runs RutOS and exposes management through WebUI (HTTP/HTTPS), CLI over SSH or Telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, TR-069, SMS, MQTT, Modbus TCP, REST API, and JSON-RPC. Teltonika's Remote Management System (RMS) enables centralised monitoring, configuration, and firmware updates across distributed deployments. Firmware updates and configuration backup or restore can be performed via WebUI, CLI, RMS, USB, TFTP, FTP, SFTP, or HTTP/HTTPS. LED indicators on the front panel report power, Ethernet activity per port, cellular signal strength and network status, Wi-Fi, RS485, and overall device status.
