Mobility and Connectivity

The integrated LTE Cat 4 modem achieves download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps on 4G networks. In 3G mode, speeds of up to 21 Mbps (download) and 5.76 Mbps (upload) are available; 2G connections support up to 236.8 kbps in both directions. The router processes 3GPP Releases 10 and 11 depending on the hardware version and supports band locking as well as displaying used frequency bands.

Two Mini-SIM slots (2FF) with automatic switching ensure redundant mobile connections. The auto-switch function responds to weak signals, data or SMS limits, roaming, network loss, rejected network registration, connection errors, and SIM idle protection. Additionally, the router supports consumer eSIM with space for up to 7 profiles; profiles can be downloaded and removed, though no data plans are included.

PoE+ and Power Supply

The RUT951 PoE+ combines a PD input on LAN1 with three PSE outputs on LAN2, LAN3, and WAN, each compliant with IEEE 802.3af/at. The total PoE power budget is 90 W, with up to 30 W per PSE port. This allows connected devices such as access points, IP cameras, or sensors to be powered directly via the Ethernet cable without separate power sources at each endpoint.

Power is supplied via a 4-pin industrial DC connector in the range of 9 to 57 VDC. Reverse polarity protection and overvoltage protection up to >58 VDC for 10 µs are integrated. Idle power consumption is under 5 W, and under 6.5 W at full load; in maximum PoE operation, the router can draw up to 100 W. A power supply is not included.

Wi-Fi and Ethernet

The Wi-Fi access point operates in 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) in AP or station mode and supports up to 100 simultaneous connections. Security standards include WPA2-PSK, WPA2-Enterprise with PEAP, WPA3-SAE, WPA3-EAP, and OWE. AES-CCMP, TKIP, client isolation, EAP-TLS with PKCS#12 certificates, and 802.11w Protected Management Frames enhance Wi-Fi security. Fast roaming (802.11r), BSS Transition Management (802.11v), and Radio Resource Measurement (802.11k) enable seamless client transitions.

On the wired side, the router features four RJ45 ports with 10/100 Mbps, divided into one WAN and three LAN ports. All Ethernet ports support Auto-MDI/MDIX and comply with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3az standards. A digital input and a digital output are accessible via the 4-pin power connector.

Management, Security, and IoT Integration

RutOS is based on OpenWrt and offers advanced network protocols, firewall functions, and automation capabilities. Multiple VPN protocols are supported, including OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, and ZeroTier. Remote management is available via Teltonika RMS, TR-069, SNMP, MQTT, and a web API. For integration with existing IoT platforms, interfaces to ThingWorx, Cumulocity, Azure IoT Hub, and AWS IoT Core are provided.

Industrial protocols such as MODBUS, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM, and OPC UA are natively supported. Status LEDs indicate connection status, mobile signal strength, Ethernet activity, and power supply. A reset button allows for rebooting, restoring factory settings, or applying a user-default configuration.

Operating Conditions and Mounting

The aluminum housing with plastic panels measures 110 × 50 × 100 mm and weighs 287 g. The router is designed for operating temperatures from −40 °C to 75 °C and humidity levels of 10 % to 90 % non-condensing. The protection rating is IP30. Antenna connectors include two SMA connectors for LTE and two RP-SMA connectors for Wi-Fi.

Mounting options include DIN rail, wall, or flat surface installation; all mounting options require an additional kit. The router holds certifications including CE, UKCA, EAC, UCRF, RCM, and WEEE, as well as EMC standards EN 55032, EN 55035, and the EN IEC 61000 series. The manufacturer’s warranty is 24 months.
