Connectivity and Cellular

The router supports 4G LTE Cat 4 with speeds up to 150 Mbit/s downstream and 50 Mbit/s upstream. In 3G mode, it achieves up to 21 Mbit/s downstream and 5.76 Mbit/s upstream, while in 2G mode, it supports up to 236.8 kbit/s in both directions. Two Mini-SIM (2FF) card slots operate at 1.8 V or 3 V and enable automatic switching in case of weak signal, data limit, SMS limit, roaming, network loss, denied network, connection errors, or SIM idle protection. Additionally, the device supports consumer eSIM with profile download and removal for up to 7 profiles; data plans are not included.

The LTE-FDD bands include B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, and B20, while the LTE-TDD bands cover B38, B40, and B41. For 3G, the supported bands are B1, B5, and B8, and for 2G, B3 and B8. The router offers band locking, a display of active bands, and operator blacklisting or whitelisting by country or individual carrier.

PoE+ and Ethernet

The RUT951 PoE+ features four RJ45 Ethernet ports at 10/100 Mbit/s, including one WAN port and three LAN ports. All ports comply with IEEE standards 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3az and support Auto-MDI/MDIX. The LAN1 port is configured as a PD port for 802.3af/at PoE+ input. Ports LAN2, LAN3, and WAN act as PSE ports for 802.3af/at PoE+ output, each delivering up to 30 W per port with a total budget of 90 W.

Wi-Fi and Security

The device provides Wi-Fi 4 (802.11b/g/n) in access point or station mode and supports up to 100 simultaneous connections. Security standards include WPA2-PSK, WPA2-Enterprise (PEAP), WPA3-SAE, WPA3-EAP, and OWE. Encryption options cover AES-CCMP, TKIP, and auto-cipher modes. Additional features include client isolation, EAP-TLS with PKCS#12 certificates, disabling auto-reconnect, and 802.11w Protected Management Frames. SSID stealth mode and MAC address-based access control further enhance Wi-Fi security.

Power Supply and I/O

Power is supplied via a 4-pin industrial DC connector with an input voltage range of 9 to 57 VDC. The router includes reverse polarity protection and overvoltage protection up to 58 VDC for a maximum of 10 µs. Idle power consumption is less than 5 W, while full load draws less than 6.5 W; with maximum PoE load, consumption can reach up to 100 W. The 4-pin power connector also provides one digital input and one digital output.

Operating System and Management

RutOS is based on OpenWrt (Linux) and offers extensive VPN, firewall, and routing features. Remote management is available via Teltonika RMS, TR-069, SNMP, MQTT, and JSON-RPC. IoT platform integrations include ThingWorx, Cumulocity, Azure IoT Hub, and AWS IoT Core. The router provides detailed cellular status information, such as IMSI, ICCID, operator, signal strength (RSSI), SINR, RSRP, RSRQ, and data usage (sent/received). SMS features include email-to-SMS, SMS-to-HTTP, scheduled SMS, and SMS autoreply.

Enclosure and Environmental Conditions

The enclosure is made of aluminum with plastic panels and measures 110 x 50 x 100 mm, weighing 287 g. It has an IP30 rating. The router is designed for operating temperatures from -40 °C to 75 °C and humidity levels from 10 % to 90 % non-condensing. Mounting options include DIN rail, wall mounting, and flat surface installation, each requiring an additional kit. The MediaTek processor operates at 580 MHz (MIPS 24KEc), with 128 MB DDR2 RAM and 16 MB SPI flash memory.
