Connectivity and Performance

The RUTXR1 delivers 4G LTE Cat 6 speeds up to 300 Mbps and 3G speeds up to 42 Mbps. Two SIM card slots, one per cellular module, enable automatic SIM switching based on predefined events such as weak signal, data limit, SMS limit, roaming, no network, rejected network, or connection loss. The router supports LTE-FDD bands B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B32, as well as LTE-TDD bands B38, B40, B41 and 3G bands B1, B3, B5, B8.

For wired connections, four Gigabit LAN ports and one Gigabit WAN port are available, all compliant with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3az and supporting Auto MDI/MDIX. An additional SFP port enables fibre WAN connections but cannot be used simultaneously with the Ethernet WAN port. WAN failover options include VRRP, mobile, wired, fibre, and Wi-Fi, each of which can be activated automatically. Load balancing across multiple WAN connections is also supported.

The Wi-Fi supports 802.11ac in dual-band mode with MU-MIMO and data rates up to 867 Mbps. Features include 802.11r Fast Transition, access point and station modes. Antenna connectors consist of 2 x SMA for LTE and 2 x RP-SMA for Wi-Fi.

VPN and Security

The router supports VPN protocols including OpenVPN, IPsec, GRE, PPTP, L2TP, SSTP, DMVPN, and Stunnel. OpenVPN offers encryption methods from DES-CBC to AES-256-CBC, while IPsec supports DES, 3DES, and AES128, AES192, and AES256. The firewall provides preconfigured rules via the web UI, unlimited configuration via CLI, DMZ, NAT, NAT-T, and DDoS prevention with SYN flood protection, SSH attack prevention, and HTTP/HTTPS attack prevention. Port scan prevention covers SYN-FIN, SYN-RST, X-Mas, NULL flags, and FIN scan attacks.

VLAN separation is available via port-based and tag-based configurations. Wi-Fi supports WPA2-Enterprise-PEAP, WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK, and WEP with AES-CCMP and TKIP encryption, as well as client isolation. QoS enables traffic prioritisation by source, destination, service, protocol, or port with WMM and 802.11e support. H.323 and SIP ALG protocol NAT helpers ensure proper routing of VoIP packets.

Management and Remote Maintenance

The operating system is RutOS, a Linux-based OS derived from OpenWrt. Management interfaces include HTTP/HTTPS, CLI, SSH v1 and v2, SNMP v1, v2, and v3, SNMP Trap, JSON-RPC, Modbus TCP, and Teltonika Remote Management Systems (RMS). Firmware updates can be performed via file, server check, or FOTA, with FOTA enabling simultaneous updates of multiple devices without configuration loss. TR-069 is also supported as a remote management protocol.

An RS-232 console port with an RJ45 connector is available for router configuration and troubleshooting, supporting baud rates from 300 to 115200 with 5 to 8 data bits, 1 or 2 stop bits, parity (none/even/odd), and flow control (none/RTS-CTS/Xon-Xoff). The USB 2.0 port allows connection of external hard drives, flash drives, additional modems, or printers, supporting FAT, FAT32, and NTFS file systems. Status LEDs indicate WAN type, mobile connection type, signal strength, active SIM, Ethernet status, console status, and power status. A reset button enables reboot, user-default reset, and factory reset.

Design and Power Supply

The RUTXR1 is housed in a full-steel enclosure with dimensions of 272 x 42.6 x 122.6 mm and a weight of 1050 g. The device is designed for rack mounting or placement on a flat surface. The operating temperature range is -40 °C to +70 °C at a humidity level of 10 % to 90 % non-condensing.

Two 4-pin industrial DC power connectors support primary and redundant power sources with an input voltage range of 9 to 50 VDC. Power consumption is less than 3 W in idle mode and up to 18 W at maximum load. Protection features include reverse polarity protection and overvoltage/transient protection. A power supply is included, with an input of 0.6 A at 100–240 VAC and an output of 12 VDC, 1.5 A with a 4-pin connector.
