Performance & Throughput

The USW-48 Gen2 delivers a total non-blocking line rate of 52 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 77.376 Mpps, ensuring wire-speed Gigabit performance across all 48 copper ports. With a switching capacity of 104 Gbps and a 1.5 MB packet buffer, the switch handles bursty traffic without frame loss. The four 1 Gbps SFP ports provide fibre uplinks for extended reach and high-speed aggregation to the core network.

Power over Ethernet

Thirty-two of the 48 RJ45 ports support PoE+, delivering up to 32 W per port with a total PoE budget of 195 W. This allows the switch to power access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, and other PoE-enabled devices directly over the Ethernet cabling, simplifying deployment and reducing power infrastructure costs. The internal 60 W AC/DC power supply accepts universal 100–240 VAC input.

Management & Control

The switch is fully managed through the UniFi Network Controller, which provides a centralised interface for configuration, monitoring, and diagnostics. Administrators can define VLANs, control port settings, and apply security policies from a single pane of glass. The 1.3″ touchscreen on the front panel offers local visibility of switch status. In-band Ethernet management ensures seamless integration into existing management networks.

Security & Network Features

The USW-48 Gen2 supports a comprehensive set of Layer 2 security and traffic management capabilities. These include 802.1X port-based authentication, MAC-based ACLs and device isolation, DHCP snooping and guarding, IP-based ACLs, storm control, and port isolation. Advanced multicast handling is provided through IGMP snooping with querier, fast leave, and router port configuration. Loop protection, voice VLAN, LLDP-MED, and egress rate limiting further enhance network stability and service quality.

Deployment & Build

Housed in a robust SGCC steel enclosure, the switch is designed for standard 19″ rack mounting in a 1U form factor. It supports rack depths from 400 to 1200 mm. Dimensions are 442.4 × 285 × 43.7 mm, and weight is 3.9 kg without brackets (3.99 kg with brackets). The switch operates reliably in ambient temperatures from -5 to 40 °C and humidity levels of 10–90% noncondensing, with ESD protection rated at ±16 kV air and ±12 kV contact.
