Performance & Throughput

The switch provides a switching capacity of 176 Gbps and a maximum packet forwarding rate of 130.95 Mpps across its 52 ports. Jumbo frames up to 12,288 bytes are supported, and the transmission method is store-and-forward. The MAC address table accommodates up to 16,384 entries per device, with up to 512 static MAC entries configurable for persistent address assignments.

Link aggregation supports up to 32 groups per device, with up to 8 ports per group, enabling high-bandwidth trunks between switches or to upstream devices. Spanning tree protocols include 802.1D STP, 802.1w RSTP, and 802.1s MSTP, along with BPDU Filtering, Root Guard, and Loop Guard for loop prevention and topology protection. Port mirroring is available in One-to-One and Many-to-One modes for both Tx and Rx traffic, with support for 4 mirroring groups.

Layer 3 Features & Routing

The DGS-1520-52 supports both static and dynamic routing. Routing protocols include RIPv1/v2/ng, OSPF v2/v3 with passive interface and Stub/NSSA area support, and Equal-Cost Multi-Path Route (ECMP) with Text or MD5 authentication. IPv4 static route entries support up to 512 entries, and IPv6 static route entries support up to 256 entries.

Layer 3 multicast support covers IGMP v1/v2/v3, IGMP Proxy, MLD v1/v2, MLD proxy, DVMRP v3, and PIM Sparse-Dense Mode (PIM-SDM) as well as PIM-SM/DM/SSM for both IPv4 and IPv6. The switch supports 1024 hardware routing entries shared by IPv4 and IPv6, and up to 4096 hardware L3 forwarding entries shared by IPv4 and IPv6. Sixteen IP interfaces are supported, with 8192 IPv4 ARP entries (256 static) and 4096 IPv6 ND entries (128 static).

VLAN support includes up to 4K VLAN groups with VIDs ranging from 1 to 4094, along with port-based Q-in-Q and selective Q-in-Q tagging. IGMP snooping operates with v1/v2/v3 and supports 512 groups plus 128 static groups, while MLD snooping covers v1/v2 with 256 groups and 64 static groups.

Management & Security

Management interfaces include a web-based GUI, command line interface, Telnet server and client for IPv4/IPv6, TFTP client, DNS client, and Secure FTP server and client for IPv4/IPv6. SNMP v1/v2c/v3 is supported alongside RMON v1 (groups 1, 2, 3, 9) and RMON v2 (ProbeConfig group). An RJ-45 console port provides out-of-band CLI management. Additional management features include LLDP/LLDP-MED, DHCP auto-configuration and auto image, DHCP relay with options 60/61/62/125, SNTP and NTPv3/v4, SMTP, command logging, and Ping/Traceroute for IPv4 and IPv6.

Security features include 802.1X authentication, Web-based Access Control, MAC-based Access Control, and RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication. Access control lists support up to 1536 ingress entries and 512 egress entries, with 2048 VLAN access map numbers. Port security allows up to 64 MAC addresses per port. QoS provides 8 queues per port with Strict Priority, Weighted Round Robin, Strict plus WRR, and Weighted Deficit Round Robin scheduling. Bandwidth control is available on a port basis, flow basis, and per-queue basis, each with a minimum granularity of 8 Kbps.

Stacking & Virtual Management

Physical stacking supports up to 8 units per stack with 80 Gbps stacking bandwidth, using the 10GBase-T and SFP+ ports as stacking interfaces. Both ring and chain topologies are supported. Virtual stacking via D-Link Single IP Management (SIM) allows up to 32 units per virtual stack, enabling simplified management of multiple switches under a single IP address.

Design & Power

The switch occupies a 19-inch standard rack width at 1U height, measuring 441 x 207.4 x 44 mm and weighing 2.78 kg. Power input is 100-240 VAC, with a maximum power consumption of 51.2 W. Standby power consumption is 25.5 W at 100 V and 26.8 W at 240 V. The DPS-520 redundant power supply can be connected for power redundancy. Heat dissipation is 174.6 BTU/hr, and the MTBF is rated at 364,888 hours. Acoustic output is 56.8 dB(A).
