Description

Advantages at a glance

  • Fiber-focused port design: 24 dedicated Gigabit SFP ports for long-distance fiber connectivity between buildings, network closets, campuses, or distributed infrastructure.
  • Six 10GbE uplinks: two 10GBASE-T copper ports and four 10G SFP+ ports provide high-speed connections for servers, aggregation switches, storage, and network backbones.
  • Physical stacking: stack up to 9 switches with up to 80 Gbps stacking bandwidth to expand port capacity and simplify management.
  • Network resilience: supports ERPS, 802.1D STP, 802.1w RSTP, 802.1s MSTP, and 802.3ad Link Aggregation to improve network availability and traffic continuity.
  • 6 kV surge protection: embedded on all Gigabit Ethernet ports and on all GE RJ-45 access ports.
  • Optional redundant power: compatible with the DPS-700 redundant power supply for power continuity planning.

Port Architecture & Connectivity

The switch provides 24 Gigabit SFP ports for fiber-based access, two 10GBASE-T copper ports, and four 10G SFP+ ports, giving IT teams flexibility to connect into existing network designs using either copper or fiber uplinks. The six built-in 10GbE connections support servers, aggregation switches, storage, and network backbones. A 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 console port provides out-of-band CLI management, and a separate 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 management port handles out-of-band IP management. A single USB 2.0 Type A port is also included.

Layer 2+ and Layer 3 Features

As a Lite Layer 3 stackable managed switch, the device supports advanced Layer 2 and Lite Layer 3 capabilities including static routing for IPv4 and IPv6, RIP v1/v2, and RIPng. Static route capacity is 1K entries for IPv4 and 512 entries for IPv6, with 16 IP interfaces. The switch supports up to 4K static VLAN groups with VIDs ranging from 1 to 4094, and VLAN types include port-based, MAC-based, protocol-based, and GVRP. Advanced VLAN features encompass Asymmetric VLAN, ISM VLAN, Super VLAN, and Voice VLAN, along with Q-in-Q, selective Q-in-Q, VLAN translation, Private VLAN, and VLAN Trunking.

IGMP Snooping supports v1/v2/v3 with 1024 IGMP groups, 128 static IGMP groups, Fast Leave, per-VLAN snooping, and querier functionality. Spanning Tree support covers 802.1D STP, 802.1s MSTP, and 802.1w RSTP, and Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) is supported. Link aggregation follows 802.3ad, and the MAC address table holds 16K (16,384) entries with a 2 MB packet buffer.

Quality of Service & Access Control

Each port supports 8 QoS queues with CoS based on packet contents, and bandwidth control operates with an 8 Kbps minimum granularity. A three-colour marker is also supported at 8 Kbps minimum granularity. ACL functionality includes egress, ingress, and VLAN-based ACLs, with ACL matching based on packet contents and support for time-based ACLs. The switch supports 802.1X access control, Microsoft NAP, and RADIUS/TACACS+ authentication. IP-MAC-port binding (IMPB) and Smart Binding are supported, along with ARP spoofing protection and BPDU attack protection.

Security & Management

Encryption is supported through SSH and SSL (v1/v2/v3). Management protocols include SNMP v1/v2c/v3, RMON v1/v2, sFlow, LLDP, ICMPv6, and 802.3ah. Cable diagnostics are supported, and jumbo frames are supported. Physical stacking accommodates up to 9 units with up to 80 Gbps stacking bandwidth per device, while virtual stacking supports up to 32 devices. The switch follows 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet standards and includes green technology features such as power saving by link status, cable length, LED shut-off, port shut-off, and system hibernation.

Power, Cooling & Environmental

The switch operates from 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, with a maximum power consumption of 82.4 W. PoE standards IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at are supported across 24 PoE ports with a 370 W power budget, expandable to 740 W with the optional DPS-700 redundant power supply. Maximum power consumption with PoE active is 454.55 W, while consumption with PoE off is 38.74 W and standby consumption is 19.63 W. Cooling is provided by 3 x smart fans, and heat dissipation is 281.16 BTU/h. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F) with 10% to 90% RH operating humidity.

Reliability & Certifications

The switch carries FCC Class A, CE Class A, VCCI Class A, IC, RCM, BSMI, CB, and cUL certifications. An MTBF of 279,418 hours is specified. The 64-byte packet forwarding rate is 125 Mpps with a switching capacity of 168 Gbps. The optional DPS-700 redundant power supply supports power continuity for business-critical environments.
