Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How many Ethernet ports does the DWM-314-G have?
4x Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports – more than the DWM-311-G (1 port), suited to several wired end devices at the same site.
Does the DWM-314-G support bridge mode?
No, unlike the DWM-311/-G, the DWM-314-G has no bridge mode, but it does add static route, access control, IPS and WireGuard VPN.
How many SIM cards does the DWM-314-G support?
The DWM-314-G has two 3FF Micro-SIM slots, so the unit can automatically switch to the second SIM if one carrier fails or has poor coverage (failover).
What is D-Link D-ECS (Edge Cloud Service)?
D-ECS is an AWS-hosted, multi-tenant cloud management platform for D-Link's 4G/5G M2M portfolio. It provides a device overview with map view, remote maintenance (reboot, reset, firmware and configuration rollout), scheduled tasks, alerting on status or traffic thresholds, and role-based user management with SAML 2.0 SSO. Using it requires a separate D-ECS license, bound 1 license per device.
Do I need to buy a D-ECS license to use the device?
No. D-Link M2M devices work standalone via the local web interface; basic functions such as remote reboot, firmware upgrade and SNMP are already built in. A D-ECS license (DECS-Y1-LIC/DECS-Y3-LIC) is only needed when several devices are to be managed centrally through one cloud interface.
Do D-Link M2M devices work with eSIM, or only with physical SIM cards?
All D-Link M2M devices listed here (DWM-3xx, DTM-5xx) use physical SIM cards only (Micro- or Nano-SIM, with 1 or 2 slots depending on the model). eSIM support is not documented by the manufacturer for any of these models.
What is the difference between the DTM transit gateways and the DWM modems/routers?
The DTM series (DTM-550-G, DTM-570-GS) is designed for vehicle/rail use: a built-in Wi-Fi 6 access point (AX1800), a GNSS receiver, ignition sensing (IGN) or a rail field bus (RS-232), and a wide voltage input with rail/vehicle certification. The DWM series are more compact industrial modems/routers without GNSS or built-in Wi-Fi 6, designed for stationary control-cabinet deployment.
