Performance & Architecture

The switch processes data traffic using the store-and-forward method and achieves a switching capacity of 40 Gbps. The forwarding rate is 29.8 Mpps for 64-byte packets. A 4.1 Mbit packet buffer and 128 MB DDR3 DRAM provide ample resources for data traffic. Jumbo frames up to 10,000 bytes are supported, facilitating the transfer of large data volumes. The MAC address table supports 16,000 entries, supplemented by 256 static MAC addresses.

Layer-2 Features

The DGS-1210-20 supports IGMP Snooping v1/v2 with v3 awareness, 256 IGMP groups, and at least 64 static multicast addresses. IGMP Snooping can be configured per VLAN and includes a dedicated IGMP Snooping Querier. Link Aggregation supports up to 8 groups per device and 8 ports per group. The Spanning Tree Protocol is supported in the variants 802.1D STP, 802.1W RSTP, and 802.1s MSTP. VLAN features include 802.1Q with up to 256 static VLAN groups, configurable VIDs from 1 to 4094, Asymmetric VLAN, Auto Voice VLAN, and Auto Surveillance VLAN.

Quality of Service

The switch implements 802.1p Quality of Service with 8 queues per port. Scheduling methods include Strict Priority and Weighted Round Robin (WRR). Bandwidth-based control per port with a minimum granularity of 16 Kbps enables targeted allocation of network resources.

Security & Access Control

Access Control Lists support up to 50 access lists and 768 rules, shared by IPv4, MAC, and IPv6. Port Security allows up to 64 MAC addresses per port. ARP Spoofing Prevention manages up to 127 entries and protects against address manipulation. Static routing with 124 IPv4 and 50 IPv6 entries enables network segmentation without a dedicated router.

Management & Administration

Management is provided via a web-based GUI, a compact CLI, and a Telnet server. SNMP is supported in versions v1, v2c, and v3. Dual software images and dual configuration files ensure redundancy for firmware updates and configuration changes. The switch is IPv6-capable and supports Auto MDI/MDIX on all twisted-pair ports. Cable Diagnostics and Factory Reset are available as maintenance features.

The housing measures 280 x 180 x 44 mm and weighs 1.75 kg. The switch can be placed flat on a desk or mounted in a 19-inch rack, with rack brackets included. An internal universal power supply accepts 100 to 240 V AC at 50/60 Hz. Maximum power consumption is 13.08 W at 100 V or 13.02 W at 240 V; in standby mode, the device consumes 5.47 W at 100 V. The fanless operation produces 0 dB(A) noise. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet is supported. Heat dissipation is 44.62 BTU/hr at 100 V.
