Description
The airMAX NanoStation 5AC Lok is a compact 5 GHz directional radio in the classic NanoStation design, featuring an updated airMAX AC chipset. It supports access point and station operating modes and is designed for building wireless point-to-point links in the 5 GHz band.
Key Benefits at a Glance
Classic Design: Compact form factor in the proven NanoStation design with an updated airMAX AC chipset
Directional Antenna: 13 dBi antenna gain with dual-linear polarization and 45° beamwidth in horizontal, vertical, and elevation planes
Flexible Channel Bandwidths: Supports 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80 MHz for adaptation to varying spectrum environments
NDAA-Compliant: Meets the requirements of the National Defense Authorization Act
Durable Housing: UV-stabilized polycarbonate for long-term outdoor use
Performance & Antenna
The airMAX NanoStation 5AC Lok operates in the 5 GHz frequency band with a globally supported range of 5150 to 5875 MHz. For use in the USA and Canada, it covers the U-NII bands 1, 2A, 2C, and 3. The integrated antenna achieves a gain of 13 dBi with dual-linear polarization and a beamwidth of 45° in the horizontal, vertical, and elevation planes. Cross-polarization isolation is at least 20 dB, and the maximum VSWR is 1.8:1.
A separate management radio module operates in the 2.4 GHz band at 2412 to 2472 MHz worldwide, or 2412 to 2462 MHz in the USA and Canada. Channel bandwidth is selectable between 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80 MHz, allowing the transmission to adapt to local spectrum conditions. Frequency Band Offset is supported.
Operating Modes & Features
The device can be operated as an access point or station. In airMAX AC Mode, it enables point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connections. The Discovery Protocol allows for automatic network detection, while traffic shaping with burst support ensures demand-based bandwidth distribution.
For distance adjustment, Ackless Mode and Dynamic Ack are available. QoS is implemented via WMM packet classification with customizable priorities (High, Medium, Low). Statistical tracking includes data rates, Ethernet link rate, packet errors, uptime, and wireless distance.
Services & Management
The airMAX NanoStation 5AC Lok provides bridging, DHCP, Ping Watchdog, routing, SNMP, SSH, and a web server. The web server allows for direct browser-based configuration, while SNMP and SSH enable integration into existing management systems. The Ping Watchdog monitors the connection and can trigger automatic recovery measures if needed.
Installation & Power Supply
The device features a GbE RJ45 port as the network interface. Power is supplied via passive PoE with 2-pair wiring (pairs 4, 5+ and 7, 8 return). The supported voltage range is 22 to 27V DC with a maximum power consumption of 7W. The 24V, 0.3A Gigabit PoE adapter is not included and must be purchased separately.
A pole mounting kit is included. The UV-stabilized polycarbonate housing measures 179 x 77.5 x 59.1 mm and weighs 180 g. The device is designed for outdoor use in a wide range of environmental conditions. LEDs for signal strength, power, and Ethernet indicate the device status.
