Description

Key Benefits at a Glance

  • Compact all-in-one design: Radio and antenna integrated in a single housing
  • Narrow beamwidth: Focuses RF energy in one direction and spatially filters out interference
  • UV-stabilized polycarbonate: Housing material for outdoor use
  • Pole and wall mounting: Pole mounting bracket included
  • Software-adjustable signal LEDs: Four Wi-Fi LEDs can be set to custom RSSI levels
  • NDAA-compliant: Meets NDAA compliance requirements

Wireless Performance & Transmission Characteristics

The NanoBeam M5 operates in the 5 GHz frequency range with a global frequency range of 5150 to 5875 MHz. The antenna achieves a gain of 16 dBi with dual-linear polarization and a maximum VSWR of 1.5:1. Transmit power reaches up to 26 dBm, and channel bandwidths are configurable in sizes of 5, 8, 10, 20, 30, and 40 MHz. The receiver achieves a sensitivity of -96 dBm at airMAX MCS0 and up to -94 dBm at 802.11a with 6 to 24 Mbps.

The four Wi-Fi LEDs for signal strength indication are software-adjustable and can be configured to custom RSSI levels. Additionally, separate LEDs indicate power supply and LAN connection status. The Atheros MIPS 74Kc processor with 560 MHz, combined with 64 MB DDR2 RAM and 8 MB flash memory, handles wireless data processing.

Housing & Environmental Resistance

The housing is made of UV-stabilized polycarbonate for outdoor use and measures 140 x 140 x 54 mm with a weight of 320 g. Wind survivability is rated up to 200 km/h, with a wind load of 21.4 N at 200 km/h. The operating temperature range spans from -40 to 70 °C, and operating humidity ranges from 5 to 95% non-condensing.

The device offers ESD/EMP protection with ± 24 kV for air and contact discharges. It has undergone a series of environmental tests, including salt fog testing per IEC 68-2-11, vibration testing per IEC 68-2-6, temperature shock testing per IEC 68-2-14, UV testing per IEC 68-2-5 at 40 °C, and wind-driven rain testing per ETS 300 019-1-4. Certifications include FCC, IC, and CE for radio operation, as well as RoHS compliance.

Power Supply & Network Interface

The network interface consists of a 10/100 MbE RJ45 port. Power is supplied via passive PoE using two pairs, and a 24 V/0.5 A PoE adapter is included. The supported voltage range is 20 to 27 V DC, with a maximum power consumption of 6 W. Mounting options include pole or wall mounting, with the pole mounting bracket included.
