Performance & Throughput

The LTU Rocket operates as a PtMP access point in the 5 GHz band, achieving a maximum throughput of 675.84 Mbps and a maximum range of 100+ km. It processes over 2 million packets per second and supports up to 64 client connections per AP. Channel bandwidth is selectable across 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 MHz, with up to 100 MHz also available. The radio's modulation scheme spans 1024QAM, 256QAM, 64QAM, 16QAM, and QPSK, and LDPC forward error correction is included to maintain link integrity over long distances.

Uplink and downlink duty cycles are programmable at 25/75, 33/67, or 50/50 ratios, giving operators control over asymmetric traffic distribution. Maximum conducted TX power reaches 29 dBm, dependent on the regulatory region, and frequency accuracy is specified at less than 2 ppm.

Design & Power

The enclosure combines diecast aluminum and polycarbonate in an IP67-rated housing measuring 244 x 82 x 48 mm and weighing 0.468 kg. A single 10/100/1000 Ethernet port provides the networking interface. Power is delivered through a proprietary 4-pair passive PoE method, using the included 24V, 1A Gigabit PoE adapter. Maximum power consumption is 15W, and the voltage range spans +18 to +54VDC. The unit operates across a temperature range of -40 to 55°C (-40 to 131°F).

Two RP-SMA weatherproof RF connectors serve channels CH0 and CH1, while a separate SMA weatherproof connector is dedicated to GPS. Mounting options include an integrated pole mount, Rocket mount compatibility, and a GPS pole mount, all designed for mast and pole deployments.

Management & Features

The LTU Rocket runs airOS LTU as its operating system. Auto Power Adjustments and Frequency Split are both supported, and Signal Control allows targeting TX output power for each station individually. An integrated GPS with an external magnetic base antenna is included. The management radio operates on 2400–2483.5 MHz, providing a dedicated interface for configuration and monitoring.

Security & Compliance

Wireless traffic is protected with WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. The radio carries FCC Part 15.407 certification along with CE EN 302502 v1.2.1 and CE EN 301 893 v1.7.1, supporting deployment in regulated European and North American markets. A 12-month warranty is included.

Scope of Delivery

The package includes the LTU Rocket radio, an integrated pole mount, a GPS pole mount, an external magnetic base GPS antenna, and a 24V, 1A Gigabit PoE adapter. These components provide the essential elements needed for a pole-mounted PtMP BaseStation installation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does anyone know if the LTU-Rocket will still have GPS functionality when connected to the UISP horn antenna?
The Ubiquiti LTU-Rocket-EU has integrated GPS for synchronization and map/Fresnel views. It is compatible with Ubiquiti 5 GHz airMAX sector and omni antennas, but GPS functionality is a feature of the LTU-Rocket itself, not the antenna.
Or, use 5ghz PTP for the AP backhaul and just manually manage channels to keep 5ghz separation (I'm assuming the LTU-Rocket will use only a single 5ghz channel)?
The LTU-Rocket-EU supports channel width flexibility (10/20/30/40/50 MHz) and uses a single 5 GHz channel for operation. Frequency Split allows different TX and RX frequencies.
What certifications does the product carry?
This product carries the following certifications: FCC Part 15.407, CE EN 302502 v1.2.1, CE EN 301 893 v1.7.1.
What warranty does the product come with?
