Performance & Throughput
The PowerBeam M5 is engineered for high-speed wireless links. Its Atheros MIPS 74Kc processor running at 560 MHz, paired with 64 MB DDR2 memory and 8 MB Flash, efficiently handles data-intensive traffic. The radio supports channel sizes from 5 MHz to 40 MHz, enabling flexible spectrum usage. With a maximum conducted TX power of 26 dBm and dual-linear polarization, the device maintains strong signal integrity over extended distances. Receiver sensitivity reaches -96 dBm at MCS0, ensuring reliable connectivity even in low-signal conditions. The integrated GbE RJ45 port eliminates bottlenecks, supporting real-world throughput exceeding 150 Mbps.
Rugged Outdoor Design
Built for permanent outdoor installation, the PowerBeam M5 withstands extreme environmental conditions. The UV-stabilized polycarbonate enclosure and powder-coated galvanized steel brackets resist corrosion, validated by IEC 68-2-11 (ASTM B117) salt fog testing equivalent to MIL-STD-810 G Method 509.5. The unit operates reliably in temperatures from -40 to 70° C and humidity up to 95% noncondensing. Wind survivability is rated at 200 km/h, with a wind loading of 342.5 N at that speed. Additional certifications include vibration (IEC 68-2-6), temperature shock (IEC 68-2-14), UV exposure (IEC 68-2-5 at 40° C), and wind-driven rain (ETS 300 019-1-4, equivalent to MIL-STD-810 G Method 506.5). ESD/EMP protection is ±24 kV air and contact.
Deployment Flexibility
The included pole-mount kit and built-in mechanical tilt of ±20° simplify precise alignment for PtP links or PtMP client installations. Passive PoE (24V, 0.5A adapter included) powers the device over a single Ethernet cable, with a supported voltage range of 20–27V DC and maximum power consumption of just 8W. Software-adjustable signal strength LEDs allow custom RSSI mapping for easy on-site alignment. The compact dimensions (420 x 420 x 275 mm) and 1.8 kg weight make it manageable for tower or rooftop mounting, while the GEOMET-coated fasteners provide long-term corrosion resistance.
