Cellular Connectivity

The router supports 5G RedCap with SA architecture compliant with 3GPP Release 17 and is backward compatible with 4G LTE Cat 4, achieving data rates of 195 Mbps in the downlink and 105 Mbps in the uplink. Two Mini-SIM slots (2FF) enable automatic switching between two SIM cards based on defined events such as weak signal, data limit, SMS limit, roaming, no network, network rejected, connection error, or SIM idle protection. SIM PIN management allows setting, changing, or disabling the PIN. An auto-APN mechanism configures the access point automatically, and mobile data quota management enables setting limits, time periods, start times, and warning thresholds.

Wired Network Interfaces

The RUT976 features one WAN port with 10/100 Mbps, compliant with IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, and 802.3az standards and supporting Auto-MDI/MDIX. Three additional LAN ports with 10/100 Mbps comply with IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.3u and also support Auto-MDI/MDIX. Passive PoE can be supplied via the LAN1 port in Mode A/B with 9 to 30 VDC, though the router is not compatible with IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at, or 802.3bt standards. A USB 2.0 port is available for external devices and supports the storage formats FAT, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS (read-only), ext2, ext3, and ext4.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

The wireless network operates in 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) in access point or station mode and supports up to 100 simultaneous connections. Security features include WPA2-PSK, WPA2-Enterprise with PEAP, WPA3-SAE, WPA3-EAP, and OWE, as well as encryption modes AES-CCMP, TKIP, and automatic cipher modes. Additional Wi-Fi functions include Wireless Mesh (802.11s), Fast Roaming (802.11r), BSS Transition Management (802.11v), Radio Resource Measurement (802.11k), client isolation, EAP-TLS with PKCS#12 certificates, disabling automatic connection attempts, and Protected Management Frames (802.11w).

Serial and I/O Interfaces

An RS232 port via DB9 connector with RTS and CTS flow control and an RS485 port with full- and half-duplex operation at baud rates from 300 to 115200 are available for serial communication. Serial functions include console, Serial over IP, modem, MODBUS gateway, and NTRIP client. The 10-pin industrial I/O socket provides two inputs and two outputs, including one digital dry input (0 to 3 V), one galvanically isolated digital input (0 to 30 V), one analog input (0 to 24 V), one digital open-collector output (30 V, 250 mA), and one SPST relay output (40 V, 4 A). The 4-pin power connector adds another non-isolated digital input (0 to 5 V as low, 8 to 30 V as high) and one digital open-collector output (30 V, 300 mA).

GNSS and Positioning

The router supports the satellite systems GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS. NMEA 0183 is available as a data format, and the NTRIP protocol (Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol) enables correction data transmission for precise positioning applications.

Operating Conditions and Mounting

The aluminum housing with plastic panels measures 110 x 50 x 100 mm and weighs 295 g. The router is designed for operation at temperatures from -40 °C to 75 °C and humidity levels of 10 % to 90 % non-condensing, offering IP30 protection. Mounting options include DIN rail, wall mounting, and flat surfaces, each requiring an additional kit. The input voltage ranges from 9 to 30 VDC with reverse polarity protection and overvoltage protection above 31 VDC for a maximum of 10 µs. The PoE-out input range is 44 to 57 VDC. Power consumption reaches 3 W in idle mode and 7 W at maximum load.

Platform and Operating System

The router runs on RutOS and uses a Mediatek processor with 580 MHz based on the MIPS 24KEc architecture. The memory includes 128 MB DDR2 RAM and 16 MB NOR flash. This hardware configuration delivers cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi, serial communication, I/O processing, and GNSS functions in a compact industrial form factor.
