Performance and Cellular Connectivity

The integrated CAT-4 LTE modem delivers downlink speeds of up to 150 Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 50 Mbps. The MAX Adapter supports a wide range of LTE bands for deployment in EMEA and APAC (B1, B3, B7, B8, B20, B28A, B38, B40, B41) as well as 3G bands B1 and B8. For maximum flexibility, three SIM options are available: a physical Nano-SIM slot, an integrated Peplink eSIM, and support for Bring-Your-Own-eSIM with one profile. Two external SMA antenna ports for cellular and a dedicated SMA port for GPS antenna ensure optimal signal quality.

Design and Power Supply

With dimensions of only 125.7 x 107 x 35 mm and a weight of 355 grams, the MAX Adapter can be installed even in tight spaces. The fanless metal housing is designed for continuous operation at temperatures from -30 °C to 65 °C and humidity levels from 15% to 95% (non-condensing). Power is supplied primarily via the 4-pin Molex connector with a wide DC input range of 9 V to 36 V. An additional USB-C port (5 V / 2 A) serves as a redundant power source and enables seamless switchover in case of main supply failure—ideal when used with an external battery or mini-UPS. Typical power consumption is only 2.2 W (maximum 5.7 W), making the adapter highly energy-efficient.

Management and Security

The MAX Adapter runs on Pepwave Adapter Firmware and can be fully managed via the web-based admin interface or the cloud-based InControl 2 platform. InControl 2 enables centralized device management, GPS-based location tracking, and fleet management—without requiring on-site technician intervention. Advanced cellular management features include APN settings, SMS control, data roaming, and IP passthrough. The integrated DHCP server with reservation options and DNS proxy simplifies LAN integration. Additionally, the adapter supports digital inputs (ignition sensing) and digital outputs, enabling seamless integration into vehicle and IoT scenarios.
